For Those Who Long For A Home - original tune for mandolin

This piece is dedicated to all those who spend the end-of-year celebrations on their own, and not by choice. The lonely souls, the forgotten, the unlucky, and the others.
This piece is also dedicated to my parents :)

The mandolin is an Eastman MD-304 recorded on a Tascam DR-05x on a late Christmas Eve.

Wow this is a beautiful tune! I love your melodic and rhythmic sensibility. The 5-bar verse and 7-bar chorus form takes it to a different rhythmic place than I usually hear in Irish music and I'm really appreciating that. I'm going to try to do a mandolin + cittern + guitar + saxophone cover of this soon!

Thank you so much! Allow me to go on a tirade about the setup in this video: I had received it in the post a couple of days prior. I bought it second hand, so I do not know who set it up, but it had a very low action and Thomastik flatwounds. It was so lovely to play! However, it was absolutely not loud enough for the plans I had for it, which were to take it to my local Irish session, so I swapped the strings for D'Addario roundwounds and had it setup with a higher action, which you can hear in other videos. I also have to say that the recorder I used probably has some kind of built-in compressor/limiter, which may have taken a part in the sound in this video. Thanks for watching :)
