Loved the old buildings. The building i live in was built in the 1800s...It has the false front like you see in old westerns often...but this building is 2stories and 7 apartments.. I do like my little place.. Any way Your littke history tidbits are appreciated..I actually found a few of their hats for sale on Etsy...😆.... Wonderful log thankyou Gary and Nicky...😊I hope the beautiful.ld brick buildigs are saved...Many wonderful hats were created there...👒🎩🤗 😊. Blessings tou yiuband all your crew!!

Good morning, have seen this building so many times, as narrow boats pass it, with just a quick “ oh this was the hat factory “ ! You put life into that old hat factory, enjoyed this piece of history. Thank you very much.

Oh Gary and Nicky, this truly is one of your finer videos. I so appreciate all the hard work and research which went into the segment on the hat factory, especially the vintage footage you threw in ! There were so many unique boats and buildings too. It seems to me, that just about every video I've watched by many narrowboaters, if it is filmed in and around Birmingham, so many interesting sights are to be found. Thanks so much for this one and may God Bless your little family as you travel the canals.

Thank you Micheal your comment makes it all worth it. Nicky loves to do research so a lot of it is down to her but not to sound big headed but this one worked and we're so pleased you enjoyed it. Sometimes we do get disappointed when we work hard but it seems to flop

Loved that vlogg I remember the hat factory working in the late 70s, the noise from the factory I still remember. The vlogg from narrow boat Spudley is well worth a watch .

What a wonderful vlog Gary and Nicky. I love social history and I really enjoyed learning about the history of the hat factory. The love story attached warms my heart, bless Mary and Fred. I wish I had seen the factory in action before 1999. I have watched your vlogs from the start and they have been my saviour at times, thank you xx

Happy Valentine's day! I have a question after listening to hat factory history and it's something I so often think about when I see canal-side buildings. Is it the case that where the buildings go down into the canals, like the factory, that the buildings were there first? It must be challenging to have a building directly on/in the water . Leigh
@GaryCaptainPhillips
@GaryCaptainPhillips 6 ай бұрын
No Leigh, in many cases the canal was first. The engineers build a buffer or dam around the building area then pump out the water where they need to build etc.
