That's crazy! I'm from Austria and there are a lot of Cantharellus cibarius here right now. I found out by chance that there are such giant chanterelles in California. Very interesting!

I live in Sonoma County part time a d Mendocino part time so thank you for showing us habitat they like. I found some California Golden chanterrelles thus week for the first time! They're above the duff and can see from a long distance. They were delicious but only weighed a 1/4 lb. You are the man!

Honestly there isn’t much academic writing on the subject - it’s conjecture and projection at this point. Most people have their heart in the right place, but their priorities are screwy and they misunderstand the basic biology of fungi. I’m working on learning how to respond with de-escalation rather than stoking conflict. I want people to learn and think instead of just assuming
