Always special when your Mom is with you! She seems so much fun, just a joy! My own mother died when I was 12. Seeing you too have so much fun makes me think of what could have been and never fails to bring a tear to my eye, a happy tear none the less.

One year my mom cut some down and brought them home. She sprayed good old hairspray on them so they would not open and spill their fluff everywhere. She had those stems for probably 30 years in grandma's old ceramic German vase in the corner behind the front door. Mom passed away when I was 30. I am now much older than she was when she passed. How blessed you are to still have each other and able to enjoy these special moments. Thanks for sharing.

Thirty Years ago, I took a floral design evening class at the area VoTech. Florists at the time just mostly used roses, chrysanthemums & carnations in their designs. Towards the end of the class, I made a very large arrangement in a crock at home of wildflowers I had foraged. I loved it & was so proud of it, took a photo & then showed the photo to the instructor. She was an older very traditional florist at the time, she looked at my photo, hesitated and said, We call this “Roadsideia”. 😊 Even now every time I see a field of wildflowers, I think what a beautiful roadsideia arrangement they would make!

What a blessing to have time with your Mom. Mine used to "forage" furniture that people threw out. The nicest piece of furniture in my house is a sectional barrister bookcase that a law firm discarded due to two tiny cracks in two panes of the beveled glass. My Mom dug it out of their trash. Thank you for allowing us to join in your fellowship.

Benjamin is growing so fast but still in the sweet boy stage. He and your mother always seem to have such a loving relationship. Being a grandma of twin boys who are now 19 has been such a special part of my life, plus I have a granddaughter who lives in Vancouver, Washington. She is equally as special to me but I don’t get to see her that often. So I hope Laura’s mother will have this wonderful relationship with her grandchildren. Loved your foraging trip, I use to do this with my mom and we’d make special arrangements from of our roadside haul. Some of those ditches were really deep and full of muddy areas. What a special bond your family has. I noticed when you were driving your gator around that your onions were popping with vigor out of the garden. Amazing how large they grow! Happy gardening. 😊🌺🌼🌸

I grew up on the east coast with a beach nearby. After dinner, my friends and I would follow the roads along a salt marsh where tons of Cattails grew. We each cut one to carry along on our walk, in order to keep mosquitoes away! We lit the end of each cattail so that they looked like cigar torches .... the smell, which we were familiar with, was unique and wildly unpopular with those pesky mosquiotes.= fun kid memory from long ago!
