What chinese cities, if any, are most comparable to Bangkok in terms of development? Same question for city vibe?

China has moved on, past much of what were other places to visit and Beijing would always be something I would suggest as a top destination 👍🏼

Thailand's GDP as a whole country is $510 billion, and Beijing's GDP as a city is $695 billion. You can see it's not fair to compare Bangkok with Beijing, because Beijing's GDP is even bigger by 36% than Thailand. Bangkok is famous for tourism though.

Thailand's GDP is only similar size to Singapore's. It won't surprise me it's much smaller than Beijing.

Fair comment… and one way to compare.

Bangkok is still very polluted and the streets are congested while Beijing is much much cleaner though congested with traffic but much more quieter and orderly traffic and with plenty of modern builds mingled with the old. Overall, Beijing is more sophisticated and wealthier.

Beijing has become boring. I prefer Bangkok

Sophisticated - a good way to put it. 👍🏼

Compare in terms of what? Bangkok as a city even looks worse than Jakarta (Indonesia). When it starts looking better, then we might compare with Beijing

I've been to both cities. I love them both. Both are clean and lots of people walking around. Beijing has more people walking around at night and feels safer. I feels safe as well in Bangkok but China over all just feels safer which makes roaming around, get lost so much more enjoyable. In terms of technology, Beijing is way ahead. In terms of pedestrian side walk safety, Beijing wins.
@ForAllLifesAdventures10 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I agree. Beijing is far safer, more organised and way ahead in tech. 👍🏼

I lived in northern Thailand for several years, and every time I had to go to Bangkok, I was feeling sick in the stomach for 2 or 3 days because of the smell, the air is so poluted. In the north there are lots of very old people(90+), not so much in Bangkok I fear. Anyway, I hope you both enjoy your stay in Bangkok.🙏👍

Interesting experience Luc, I liked Bangkok… so far, but it would take a bit of getting used to if I was here longer! 😬

No. I am staying in a town 550 km outside of Bangkok. Cannot compare. Bangkok has good metro system like China, but it cannot match.
@ForAllLifesAdventures10 сағат бұрын
Yeah, the infrastructure in Beijing is awesome compared to Bangkok!

I have been to Bangkok several times. Several impressions: 1. it hasn't been developing as fast as Chinese cities. Yes, I was able to see new buildings getting constructed, but in a lay back fashion. 2.There were lots of restaurants and it seems like people eat around the clock. 3. It is quite inexpensive overall, but I saw many homeless people nevertheless. I remember seeing a young single mother sleeping on a sidewalk with her daughter who was a little girl. It was quite heartbreaking to see children on the streets. 4. I wasn't been able to find much to do, other than eating and vegging out in the hotel.

It's your fault if you got nothing to do in Bangkok. Chinese woo mow don't beling to Bangkok anyway
@ForAllLifesAdventures9 сағат бұрын
Yeah, it has its contradictions and the poverty is striking at times!

When it comes to Thailand, the biggest draw for me is the food.
@ForAllLifesAdventures10 сағат бұрын
Yep, the food is good. I have a sweet pallet so like that part of the Thai food!

@@ForAllLifesAdventures I mean spicy food. When you say sweet Thai food, I think you mean snacks?

I wish I was rich.. but I can only compare from my perspective and experience but I do understand poverty, having come from that.
