Foraminal Disc Herniation Surgery | Instituto Clavel

In this video, Dr. Pablo Clavel talks about the surgery that can be used to treat a foraminal disc herniation, which is a hernia that occurs at the exit hole of the nerve.
Because of the location of this hernia, we are able to access it through a lateral approach, passing between the muscles, without needing to cut them or manipulate them in any way.
With this operation, we do not need to remove the facet joint, which would entail fixing the disc with screws and a loss of disc mobility. In addition, by respecting the muscles and going straight to the hernia, no structures are injured and recovery is faster.
