The myth of the self made man is so popular because of bourgeois individualism, doing things collectively is icky communism.

the greatest irony with this nonsense is that if one manages to gain real access to what's traditionally considered successful, it's loudly clear that these people are not isolated .

Yeah, but it’s necessary for the owners to maintain. They have to blast such myths at us constantly to maintain the alienation of the working class. An industrial economy requires socialized labor, our day to day experience demonstrates the lie in the myth. When the masses realize how false they are, when the alienation breaks down and people realize we are the source of wealth, that’s when the revolutions occur. Now the difficulty is getting people to get it, they are masters of the hard sell, and possess the capital to force their hard sell down our throats. Charles Dickens wrote a novel Hard Times back in the nineteenth century about the myth of the self made man. Capitalism is a rut a broken merry go round that never stops and never goes any new.

First Saturdays with Renae and out the gate, it’s one of the best episodes of the year. So much Black gold, so many gems, so much excitement, and so many quoteables. Loved the guests, loved everything about it this, but first and foremost I have to clip timecode 35:13 because Amber just said one of the best things I’ve heard in some time.

The boot strap thing is actually an old working class joke, that’s why it’s so nonsensical.

I've been searching for that for awhile now-lot of criticism-no substance.

Please point to a country which employs a different system which you believe the Community would thrive in. Your criticisms are heard. However, I'm missing the pathway to liberation.
