When you ask personal questions of someone whos current and potential future career is based 100% on Law and specifically requires applying that law appropriately regardless of ones own personal views and you get the proper response "my personal views, beliefs, or opinions have no baring on my judicial judgement". Its a very political, but proper answer to the question(s) Ted was asking. I'd say that asking those types of questions in the first place was a waste of time. I'd do what the other guy did and look at her past work and judicial history. The whole under judicial code of conduct I am not allowed to share personal views is a cop out. If you go look at the code it does not say they are not allowed to share their personal views. What it does say is " A judge shall conduct the judge’s personal and extrajudicial activities to minimize the risk of conflict with the obligations of judicial office. A judge or candidate for judicial office shall not engage in political or campaign activity that is inconsistent with the independence, integrity, or impartiality of the judiciary." there is more but I feel that is the relevant part. When answering these questions to the house or congress if they are unwilling to answer then they should not get a yes vote. that goes for either side.

Cruz should've asked her WHAT question she'd be willing to answer. Because apparently the only thing she'd be willing to answer is "Will you be impartial despite your views?" but if this is the case, why do they go through the trouble of having a confirmation hearing? Just send them a letter with 'Will you be impartial [ ] Yes [ ] No" and if they check Yes, they're confirmed. What's the point having hearings where they can just refuse to answer every single question, and they get in anyway.
