That’s real awesome. I have a teen son and a lot at his age smoke cannabis and/or drink. I think my son has learned though that he doesn’t want to lose control of his mind/body. He has no interest in that, in fact that is what scares him. He’s a genius (not figuratively, but literally) in his 3rd year at 14 pursuing cognitive and computer science degrees. But what I admire is that he does not like the idea that he wouldn’t be in control of his great mind. So good choice. People takes years off of their lives drinking and time wasted by being high. Not reallly worth it.

Children learn what they live. We as parents need to be the best example. Kids pick up if you're a hypocrite. Discipline them young, make punishment fit crime. Don't overcompensate for your inadequacies. Teach them cause and effect early. Don't give them too much too soon. Let them really earn things they want and provide for all their needs.

One is a successful doctor, the other a successful tech in the auto industry doing high end specialty work on cars. They don't drink, do drugs, and are living quite well. I like my wine, but it doesn't drive me. That's my thing when I'm done at the end of the week. I have no desire to go out bar hopping, partying all the time. I just like to have a some wine at the end of a long work week. It makes a difference in how you live your life, and how long you live your life.
