@@openspacestudio First of all, you have a LOT of nerve calling ANYONE uneducated. I've lived in CA my entire life and don't need any reading suggestions from you. That book was written and published almost 10 years ago and after our 10 year drought, it is no longer as relevant, as it once was. Yea, back then the smelt was an issue, BUT it was NEVER as simple as turning a friggin faucet OFF & ON. It was a small portion of a much bigger problem. BIG AG was allowed to pump water all the way down through the ground water table, down to the aquifers to the extent that is some places the ground is literally sinking. Then there are the almond and pistachio farms that grew their annual water use by 523 billion gallons of water compared to 2017 - enough to supply 87% of California’s population. In California, 80% of our water goes toward agriculture and with 20% of that going to tree nuts. Around two-thirds of these nuts are exported overseas, leaving massive profits for corporate titans, but less water in California. Talk about sheep, you seem to be the one who has their head buried. I'd say we would be much better off with a different crop choice, rather than making corporations rich (while none of that benefits the state). Then there is the water that was stolen by Nestle (now Blue Triton).YOU are the one that needs to "educate" yourself!!

Just like the forest in California play stopped removing deadfall from the Forest floors, because there was an endangered species of beetle and their ideal environment is the Forest floor covered with deadfall Dead leaves. So he's talking about diverting the water from the Columbia River. So it goes west not south to the ocean. Canada, Washington and Oregon have already agreed to how that water is to be handled. You'd have to build a dam and then create a huge water system to California. Canada isn't going to agree to a dam and flooding their land behind it. And the cost when he is planning on cutting taxes everywhere? Who is going to pay for it? He doesn't know what he is talking about.

@@matthewvazquez2247he is using it as a simile. California does indeed control the water distribution through the state. It gets prioritized as the water commission sees fit. It gets to be a big problem when CA is in a drought condition. Much of their water is distributed through canals and pipelines from other states. The state can ration the water and they do exactly that when in a drought. Snow melt in Northern California is a good source, but the rest of California is either bordered by desert type territory or the ocean (with un useable salt water).
