The original singer should receive more royalties than cover singers. Even if the song the cover is what they are most famous for.

I'm guessing you mean the writer of the song. Singers do not always write the song. Even Taylor Swift isn't writing all her music these days.

@politicaloptimist nope that's a different thing. The artist that sings it first. If only writers it get no artist gets paid. They were paid to write a song they got paid. If you outside the performers then writers,sound board mixers, the coffee kid and Uber eats should get royalties too. Does the grip and lighting rigger get royalties for star wars? No no they don't. How about security staff who made it possible for the movie or song to be made? I worked security on 3 movies as my part time job while I was enlisted in the military to put food on the table do they owe me 24 years back pay? No I was hired for a task completed task moved on.
