I first heard of/saw this game on the Board James series from a few years ago. I re-watched the whole series recently and looked the game up. Looked REALLY fun, so I ordered it and it came today. This game is a LOT of fun! Oh wow!

@@riffleshuffleandroll I am a little confused about a couple certain things in the rules though.... Say you're two spots away from the idol and you roll more than two.... Does your turn end at the idol after you've picked up a gem??? What I mean is, you can't turn around and take the other four spots back along the bridge.... You have to stay on the platform until your next turn, right? And is it also the same when you drop off the first gem in the canoe? Can you turn back around and make your way back toward the idol on the same turn, or do you have to wait at the canoe till your next turn???

Thanks for this video. I think for every good thing this new version does, it also does something wrong. The colors on the board, gems, and cliffs are better in this version, but the lack of a border is a huge oversight. Not only is the border that's included with the '92 version aesthetically pleasing, it serves a significant purpose by keeping the explorers and gems on the board when they fall from the bridge. Also, the '92 version is bigger, and taller as a whole. As much as it pains me to say, I think I'll seek out the '92 version, even if I have to spend more and buy replacement pieces.

I’ve been thinking about this myself. As I love how the original looks, I think the newer one is the better buy. You’ll spend a decent amount of money for the 92 complete. Sure.. the bridge is lower, and the oversight of the border is kinda lame… the main draw to the game is the upgraded bridge, it sends people FLYING and has a much larger chance of knocking people off and throwing gems around, which I believe, adds much more playability. Since this an older comment I hope you got exactly what you wanted and are having fun regardless :) almost a year later we are still crossing fingers for IT and Tornado Rex

I like both and the updates *although yes, it is smaller and that orange old detailed statue color and longer lasting movement* were cool, but boy it was loud and maybe its more practical now but still close

Didn't realize they reissued this game , I bought the 1992 version only to open up and display the bridge and idol in my toy collection since I like anything to do with ancient ruins ect...

I get that they didn’t built the plastic boarders with the cardboard inserts but it’s weird the changed the colour of the idle and the clip from tan. Lots of fun to play with the kids or a great drinking game.

I can see there is a difference between old and new version. Old one had walls around the bottom board. This is not good that they change original. Probably to save on production. New version should be the same, or even better. They should add something extra, no take it off. Anyway, thank You for detailed review. Regards.

I agree with you, I bought this not realizing it didn’t have the boarder pieces like the original…. This was important for when the explorer & gems pieces fall off the bridge … it would keep them on the board …. With this version the gems go flying all over the place …. It’s a shame that they cut corners and sacrificed functionality.

Great review thankyou. I love these kind of games with the family. I just bought Ghost Castle..thats great too! When you move a player to a danger zone does it have to be the closest plank to that player or can you move him right back? Also if a gem is in the jungle directly below a player on the bridge who is advancing toward the statue gem does the player still have to advance towards the statue? Sorry about all the questions..just needed to clarify. Ps is this game available in the uk as I can only see it as a 1992 release on ebay?

Hi! No problem at all. A player must always move towards the closest gem. So, if they are on the bridge, they can keep moving toward the idol. When moving a player, it must be on the same plank. Not sure about UK availability. :) Hope that all helps!
