It always pained me that there was nothing for Fenix and Rainor with this plot, Rainor being the one that would destroy Kerrigan after what she did to Fenix.

W-w-w-wait a second, did Fenix even know Artanis for any longer then 3 Brood War campaigns? Artanis was barely a preator back then and it was another protos who fought in hundreds of battles alongside Fenix.

Artanis was canonically the Executor in charge during the SC1 Protoss campaign. Of course he would see Fenix as an old comrade returned.

Sadly, they didn't get any recurring roles after their campaigns were done. For a while I thought maybe Matt Horner was the magistrate, but that was contradicted in the novels. Alas, the unsung Cerebrate who won the Brood War for Kerrigan never got the props it deserved... and probably died to make way for the Broodmothers.

when playing the original Protoss campaign, the executor(the player) is Artanis; during Brood War, it is Selendis that is the executor

That's all of them. In co-op it's 2 Templar (Artanis + Karax), 1 each of the other three.

They transferred his mind into a purifier body. Yes, he did die in Brood War, but now he's alive as a Purifier.

Apparently, before even the original StarCraft, Fenix had his memories, personality, etc. copied, and it's that copy that's alive right now...the Real Fenix is dead, due to the Queen of Blades, now we got Purifier!Fenix, an extremely-lifelike copy...

Well, according to his lines in the game his body was transfered to a Dragoon right after the second mission in the original game, but also his mind was copied and sent to this facility at the same time. Perhaps they did this to several fallen Protoss warriors' minds, even after they shutted down the Purifier progam as a last resort to moments like this.

Yup to all the replies. In fact, the character in question eventually realized that he was not truly Fenix and took a different name, Talandar.

Before the Zerg Invasion of Aiur, Fenix was send to Glacius by Artanis (the Conlcave guy). To be used as basis for the "Purifier Reborn" project. This is not the same Fenix that died in Brood War by Kerrigans hand. More like a copy of the one we meet in Antioch, Protoss mission 1. And apparently he is not (yet) aware of his uniquesness.
