Lyrics:
Here I lay all alone
Tossin' turnin'
Longing for some of your
Tender love
I'm waitin' for the right
Moment to come
So I can thank you for
All the tender love you've given to me
Tender love (tender love)
Love so tender (ah)
Holdin' me close to you
Baby I surrender
Candles they light the dark
Now I see how
Lovely the feelings are
All the tender love you've given to me
I want you more and more
Can't resist you
More than I feel your touch
Tender love
Lovin' me straight from the heart
Holy mirror
Please let me be a part
Of all the tender love you've given to me
Tender love (tender love)
Love so tender (ah)
Holdin me close to you
Baby I surrender
Ooh yeah surrender baby ooh
La la la la la la, la la la
Ooh, ooh, hmm
Ah!
Tender love, oh!
Please let me be your love
Mm, whoa whoa (tender love)

I'm 41 and when I was a teen ager and into my early 20 my friends laughed at me because I was deeply into Motown. I've always loved Motown, 60s music and good soul music. The Marvin Gaye what's going on album, I've listened to it probably 1000 times all the way through. It's one continuous song that talks about everything going on in the world at that time. It's extremely deep. The 4 tops , Supremes , smokey, all of it. Then I discovered Bobby Womack in my early 30s. He's so awesome!!!

First slow dance was to this song. Thinking back I smile. 49 now and am so thankful for all the great music in the 80s. Wouldn't change it for anything.

I’m SO GLAD my youth was filled with this level of sweetness. I remember being courted, summer walks, lol, smelling like “outside”. Street lights, cicadas in the background and being pushed on the swings by my high school sweetheart in the playground at dusk. Whew…. Wow.
