I had to leave my BE in the 4th semester due to caste based discrimination.. I dropped out because they failed me in practicals two years in a row & my family had practically no money left to support my education further. After learning my caste and that I cleared 1st year with 62%. They kept calling me names and humiliating me in classes and in hostels too because I had only one shoe that I wore everywhere. One professor told me to my face "lakh koshish kar le tu, practical nahi pass kar sakta." & asked me to leave the lab. As I was leaving, he turned towards another professor and said, "Ab bhangi chamar bhi engineer banenge." After quitting, I had to start working, and after a few months, I also enrolled in IGNOU and completed my graduation from there.

This is not just about government jobs; casteism is practised in private companies as well. However, it is not as blatant as it was for these old fellows. Let me give an example. I am a Solutions Architect working in the IT sector. My job profile includes conducting interviews. If I selected a so-called low-caste candidate in an interview, surprisingly, that candidate would get rejected either in the senior manager round or the HR round. On top of that, senior managers would say, "Apte Bhau, what kind of people do you pass? Be more careful, boss." But when I selected a candidate from my caste or any other so-called high caste, that candidate would surely get the job. Not only that, HR or the senior manager would always boost their confidence by saying, "You must be very good, otherwise Nitesh Sir hardly ever selects a candidate." An important point to understand here is that I am working as a Solutions Architect. Technically, nobody can cross my decision if It's related to a technical candidate selection. A senior manager or HR manager has no say over my decision unless the matter is related to salary. When I said 'selected,' the candidate should be selected because I am the technical person giving the go-ahead for the final selection. But those who belonged to the SC/ST community were always rejected in the HR or senior manager round. This is the killing of talent, plain and simple. If they were bypassing a Solutions Architect like me, then a Senior Developer or Technical Lead who is conducting an interview is even easier to bypass. I am sure this is happening in many private companies. If we keep killing talents because of our casteist mentality and keep lying that there is no casteism, then obviously no one is going to believe us. No wonder they are now demanding reservations in private companies as well. Casteism is something that can be eradicated, but we lack the intention. On one side, we have advanced technologies that enabled us to send satellites to Mars. But on the other side, we don't have technologies to clean the sewers, and we're letting Dalits die while cleaning sewers manually. So, it's very clear that we lack intention, and the root of this lack of intention is the casteism that is deep-rooted in us.

Yes, it happens everywhere. Few years back I went to kotak Mahindra Bank interview. The interviewer whose surname was Thakur directly asked my caste and saw my driving licence. Then, he said why don't you go for government jobs, to which I replied that not everyone is interested or talented to get government jobs. In meerut When i was in 11 standard i used to go to a tution where most of the students were jain and the tution teacher was a jain as well, there was a one student who invited her friend and the tuition teacher for her parents 25 th wedding anniversary, although she had same financial level like all of them but after she left the class, the tution teacher told the other student to not go to her house because she belonged to a lower caste and her family used to do naali ki safai. Many people will say he is 85 years old now everything has changed. But it's not. This year i visited mumbai for an gov exam and next day it was 14 april . My family and i went to have dinner in a good restaurant and there were young girls and boys having dinner next to us and one girl who was looking 22 or 25 years old said I hate her (her friend) because she put a status for dalit dr. Baba saheb ambedkar and the fact that she belongs to this young generation can hate a person just because of putting a status for a dalit makes me think deep that how much she must hate an sc/st person. It's not about reservation, even if you remove the reservation is there any guarantee that they will not hate sc/st, that they will not see them as untouchables even more. Still There are so many rape and murder cases in village area that are happening in sc/st people. Reservation gives them atleast a secure place to be in a race. If you remove the reservation people will not even allow the sc/st to be in a race More than reservation Cast discrimination needs a solution.

In this case something opposite happened to us. Me and my friend were working for 4 years in our last job and then last year a lower caste person joined as our manager. So after he settled in the job he started targeting us being envious of us because of our upper caste and standard of living started talking shit behind our back and doing the things to force us to leave the job so we resigned from our posts this April. The Unreserved category people had continuously harassed the students coming from low background to an extent where these people even if they do not commit suicide, they tend to have a low self exteem. @@SarojSingh-nq5ql What is the condition of Punjab ,please elaborate .. Congress of the past was overpowered by RSS both from outside and inside . Indira Gandhi was totally under the thumb of RSS from 1980 . Now most of RSS components have defected to BJP . So we support Congress now . We don't want any "samman" from BJP because they are " मुंह में राम ,बगल में छुरी " Their real agenda is to destroy Punjab and Sikhi .
