I had a 1979 XLS and those AMF era bikes weren't the best regarding quality control. I think every bike "marked it's spot" where ever you parked it., which was part of it's uniqueness I guess.

I've really enjoyed watching these videos. I know that going across west Texas is very hard because there's not a lot to see and it's all pretty flat. I've done one cross country escort with the Patriot Guard Riders back in September 2021. We took two veterans from Phoenix, AZ to Arlington National Cemetery in five days. We met other PGR members in all the states we crossed and at one point were escorted by the Presidential Escort Team in Indianapolis, Indiana. It's a trip I'll always remember. And I've posted videos of it here on KZbin. Thanks, Jess, for doing these.

I am so glad you had a good time in my home town! You hit it during the right time of year. We just had a super freeze spell (down to 22 just north of San Antonio), but have warmed up again. 80s this week! Winter is usually very crazy with temperature swings, but ou can still get out and ride in decent weather at least one or two weekends a month. If you ever come back, be sure to check out the riding in the hill country just north of San Antomio and be sure to ride the three twisted sisters roads!

I added a set of Cyclesmiths banana boards to my Road Glide and they are the single best creature comfort I added other than heated grips. They change how I have to throw my feet down at stops a little and I had to lift my shifter peg angle a wee bit because I have to tip the board up a bit to reach the kickstand but, I love those footboards; they’re better than highway pegs for me. I’m glad I gave them a look.

I used to go to Barnett's back when they were on Montana in the north part of E.P.. Nice shovel but not 15K nice. Saw lots of Shovels at dealerships back in the 1970/80s. Still have my 1977 FXE

Been there (Ozona) out there in the middle of nowhere We are a cpl hours north of there. It gets a bit more scenic as you hit the hill country over by "the three sisters" highways which are a GREAT riding area. We love the river walk as well. Great anytime of year, and a special treat around xmas when they have all the added xmas lights up too.

That dealership is amazing. The view of the store show just how large it is. Seeing the shovel head made my day. I couldn't ride one of the older bikes. I am a bagger guy through and through. I'll stick with my 22 Road Glide Special. The best upgrades I have done is my KST Custom Spearhead bars and the dirty air, air ride. Those two upgrades made all the difference in comfort. We live in Indianapolis, IN, so not far from you. We have already been riding three times this year. We took at short 90 mile ride to our American Legion Post 341 riders meeting and back. The temps when we left was 32. I don't mind the cold to much, but can't wait until the consistent warm weather gets here.

i bought a Harley in Arizona. I rode Phoenix to Virginia and up to RI last year. I didn’t have pegs. What a difference it makes. Rt 10 is beautiful. Places in TN are Amazing. Have fun. Btw, I never would have done it if it wasn’t for your videos

This is serious DeJaVue for me!! I haven't seen the Riverwalk since I left San Antonio in 1975. Entered the Air Force, had basic training, tech school, and K9 SCHOOL there! Tons of great times. yep K9 school, I was a patrol dog and Explosive Detector Dog Handler! got Honorably Discharged in 1987, yep 12 years active duty.. Really enjoying this one and this series. It's ok to get emotional in the Alamo! Some serious History there and throughout our country in its infancy! Safe travels to each of you! Keep up the Great Work, ML&R

When I was there in the Air Force in the early 80's they would warn Airman to not go down to the Riverwalk at night, we did stay until it got dark a couple of times and run into some drunk a-holes that tried being threatening towards us but we just ignored them and stayed the course. I have not been back to that area since I left in 82. I would love to see that area again one day.

We were on a trip from Dallas to San Diego when one of the riders thought her rear end was coming loose and wobbling. Stopped in at Barnett and they took her right in. Turned out Fender and saddlebags were loose. No charge and a have a good ride on the way out the door.

Good video! I've taken about the same route that you have years ago except that I turned north at Arkansas. I swear it took twice as long to get across Texas as any other state. I can't remember the last time I saw a Shovel on the floor or a dealership that would work on one, gotta like that. Now I need to ride to Texas just to see that dealership and the San Antonio Riverwalk, dang it! I'm sure that HD would like to sell you that 2024; it's amazing that prices have actually dropped and they do look good.

Enjoying you taking us with you. Are you a Harley purist? From myself and others I've road with the Goldwing is a nicer more comfortable with adjustable suspension at the touch of a switch. Double wishbone front suspension is a game changer when riding. Have fun and be safe.

I just bought my first motorcycle a week before my bday. My wife surprised me for my 40th. She’s an old girl, but it’s MY, bike😂. I have a 2005 Road King Custom. Living here in Florida, so many places just here alone to ride. My wife would have a heart attack if I were to ride across the Country 😂. I’d love to ride all the way back to California, where we’re from. Ride with my pops. He has a Road Glide. I admire your cross country videos a lot. My next bike one day, I’d love to get a Road Glide, or an Indian Challenger. Until then, I’m LOVING my bike 😍. I’ll hold on to her for a while🤟🏽.

I rode from Grand Prarie to El Paso one day pulling my trailer. It was the longest, most boring ride of my life back in 1986. Barnett’s was a stop I made.
