In this episode of "Bottom Line with Pravin Sawhney" on the Force Magazine KZbin channel, Pravin Sawhney critiques the Modi government's missed opportunities over the past decade, particularly in engaging with global South nations. The discussion highlights the emphasis on global North alliances, strategic missteps, and the geopolitical shifts towards Asia-Pacific due to China's rise.
The video covers missed opportunities for India's global role and the skewed priorities towards the G20, the rise of China and its strategic alignments with Russia, and the dynamics of a multi-polar world involving America, China, and Russia. It delves into the global South's alignment with China and Russia for prosperity and stability, China's technological advancements and their implications on global power dynamics, and the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution led by China on global standards. The Ukraine conflict and its unexpected outcomes for Western powers, shifts in global trading systems, and the move towards digital currencies are also discussed. Additionally, the Modi government's strategic challenges and regional dynamics, including military posturing and economic disparities with China, are analyzed.
Don't miss this comprehensive analysis on the evolving global landscape and India's positioning. Subscribe to Force Magazine for more in-depth Videos.

You need economic clout to lead a block or at least provide security. India doesn't have the economic strength of China and Russia and doesn't take a stand against the USA who endengers the region stability. So there's nothing much India does aside from lip service.

Actually, USA doesn't practice any balance of power, or Westphalian system. It's pure hegemonism and imperialism. You can't have balance of power when you talk about rules based order. The balance of power is practiced by Global South nations, led by China and Russia. That's why the International North-South corridor is barely involving China, is countering the OBOR, that's why Russia wanted India as a counterbalance in SCO and Central Asia against China. Hence why invited both Saudi Arabia and Iran in BRICS at the same time, to keep the balance of power in the region.

Completely agree with your assessment Praveen. India unfortunately let its hatred and jealousy cloud its vision and misjudged the situation, and decided to join the Western alliance such as QUAD, G20 etc, while lukewarm on BRICS, SCO. All these are happening in the wake of the irreversible decline of the Western empire comprising almost entirely former colonial nations. What an irony for India which was the biggest colonized nation

Nowadays, China leads in almost all critical technologies according to Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI). Take a look at the ASPI report available on the internet. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) is one of the largest think tanks in the world and advises the Australian government and defense organisation. They have done years of research in the field of innovation and critical technologies. And they analyzed the 44 most critical technologies in the world and tried to figure out where China, the US and every country in the world stand. The result they achieved was that China leads innovation in 37 out of 44 areas of critical technologies. They are ahead of the US and the rest of the world. They have even established a monopoly on 8 of these technologies. While the US still holds a leading position in only 7 areas.

Thank you, Mr. Sawhney, for doing a realistic and futuristic analysis. The current Indian government under Mr. Modi has wasted ten years of prosperity and regional stability in that part of the world. I wish India had a statesman like Mr Narsima Rao, Dr Manmohan Singh, Mr Vajpayee and stateswomen like Mrs Indra Gandhi. The EAM, Mr. Jaishankar, the NSA Mr. Ajit Doval, Mr. Amit Shah and Mr. Rajnath Singh have caused a huge embarrassment for India across the globe. Their failed economic policy raised poverty in India, reduced manufacturing by 26% and stunned GDP; the numbers Mr Modi projects are all cooked; actually, the 800 million Indians were on ration relief, in other words, below the poverty level. I wish you and your fellow citizens of India have this Modi nightmare over and a sane national government that can put their heads together and pull India out of the mess this incompetent bunch in Delhi has created for the people of India.

Why because if India Pakistan doesn't normalised relationship with each other by solving hot nuclear flesh point kashmir .then the regions cannot be peaceful for development. China has great stack in kashmir coz his belt n road passing through kashmir which is highly unstable. So India must acknowledge this point. I'm from China. I always appreciate and respect you. But this time I don't agree with you on "India chosed the globle north". I guess Modi is thinking in this way:"India has three choices - to stand with globle south as a main player, or to stand with globle north as a minor player, or to sit on the fence. And now India should chose to sit on the fence. Then India can switch to the south or the north when the result of the competition is about to come out. Then theoretically India will be benifited at at a low extent while those 'angel investors' will win at a large extent. But this happend only when the compitition won't goes to a hot war. When it goes to a hot war, India can be the biggest winner as the U.S. did in the WWII. Either way India will win." I have to say it's a great strategy and it is probably from so called "Madhyamika". BUT it's only applicable to small powers. Madhyamika was developed when India was consisted of hundres of small kingdoms. But India today is an united great power, it will never obtain the respect and the position what India should get by this kind of strategy. The U.S. chosed the Allied in the WWII very ealy. It didn't join the war very ealy only because it wanted to pay less cost. And since many countries today have nuclear weapons the compitition is not likely to goes to a hot war. Sitting on the fence will make India lose its chance to be a real great power. As a Chinese, I live in a country which is a large and united one for thousands of years, and I know China will never use strategy like "Madhyamika" because we take ourselves as a main player. But China encourages small powers to take this strategy since it's good for them -- like the ASEAN countries. When it goes to India, Indian people should answer yourself first: Should I be a great power?

India China problem is independent of America China problem. True India needs America to safe guard it's borders and Amarica needs India to safe guard it's Super Power status. Yes India and Amarica are at the two ends of the Globe but they have much in common. On the other hand China Pakistan have nothing in common . Same is the case with China and India. The hard fact is that whatever has happened in the past, these nations are neighbors and will remain neighbors. Fighting neighbors only benefit the global north and their only remaining industry that is arms sales.
