Adding more aircraft doesn't help as much you might think. They're still limited by the speed they can refuel and rearm them, as well as the quantity of aircraft fuel and munitions stored on board. The design is optimised for 72 F-35 sorties per day, sustained, with 2 bombs per aircraft per mission, over a five day period.
@northernranger0123 жыл бұрын
i think the 36 is a max for low intensity warfare and peace time, i have heard that it can go upto 70 but that would likely see no hellicoptors on board. i suppose it dependes on the mission requirments.
@ingurlund96573 жыл бұрын
48 in four 12 plane squadrons with 24 on deck and 24 in hangar at any one time. The lifts can rotate through the squadrons comfortably and can do 96 sorties in a day. That's how you get maximum use out of the size of a QE without overcrowding or shortage of fuel.
@tommyallen80723 жыл бұрын
People often over estimate how important numbers are when it comes to mechanicals like tanks, planes helicopters etc. Logistics is arguably the one of the most important parts of war, being able to fuel, repair, re-arm and pilot those vehicles is of far more importance than having lots of them. There's a reason us brits have come out on top when we're often outnumbered.

Some places FORBID ANY NUCLEAR VESSEL to enter its port although the port is big enough for largest ships. CATOBAR is expensive to develop and maintain even the US still having issues with the latest EMALS. Also UK MoD is very budget sensitive. Even the last CATOBAR project was canned even before it can get off the drawing board. You know, the RN call its carriers "through-deck cruiser" due to "aircraft carrier" sounded EXPENSIVE particularly the one with catapults and arrestors. Had they called it aircraft carrier the RN wouldn't have any carriers at all. MoD is controlling the money and nuclear reactors are expensive to refuel. The USN carriers could sit in ports for a few years just to refuel. Also, the US has 11 of them because of its economy enabled it to afford them.
@Joshua_N-A3 жыл бұрын
