Hurricane Milton is the last of impactful majors in the 2024 ATL season, with Beryl and Helene preceding. Its the strongest ATL storm since Dorian, most intense since Wilma, and the first WHEM sub-900mb since Patricia! This also marks the first time the USA has faced two severely impactful majors in a short period of time since 2017!

My Analysis on Milton: 195/897 This storm probably had this peak but since the systems malfunctioned and recon not recording properly this would be it

Flight level winds for recon are always accurate. 180, or at most 185mph, could be suggested given the data collected. In my opinion, 180mph is fine, and that’s likely what the NHC will keep it at.

@@QuagmireS6 I tracked Milton first hand utilising recon data and satellite intensity estimates, I can assure you it was no stronger than 185mph. You could hypothetically estimate that it was stronger than this by assuming the sat intensity estimates were bias towards tropopause, and recon didn’t capture its peak intensity… but this is just an extrapolation theory, and the NHC would never assume this route of tracking. But all to there own first intensity! (I type formally as it’s the best way I can describe stuff, all friendly vibes from me 🤠)

I think that Helene and the wind shear was the only think that saved Tampa from what could have been a 195mph+ I’ll be crazy enough to say 220mph beast as it got to its 185mph intensity before it got to probably the warmest water in the entire Atlantic basin. As bad as it was for me and some of my closest friends “we got lucky with no damage somehow but my friends lost power for 3 days due to the storm cupeled with poor power grid restoration management” it could have been way worse. Now the question is is this comment going to be forever a stupid thing, or will it be a reality…… I hope not.
