Welcome back for Episode 2 of Cody Builds! Today we discuss our future plans for Grandpa's dentside Ford pickup. Join me in the shop as we start the conversion of our 1975 Ford F150 from a long bed to a short bed. We'll cut the frame in two and shorten the wheelbase by 16".

Diggin the patina idea. If someone doesn't dig the cut, get their own and cut that beast. Or toss them in the dog house with the M.I.L. Enjoying the build bro.

Ironic.i have a short bed 78. I wanted a long bed couldn't find one. Couldn't find a short bed box to fit my short bed frame so I'm cutting a long bed box to fit the short bed frame.

I just cut my long bed box up this week! The episode I put up on Friday laid out how I planned to cut it up. Next week’s video is actually cutting it up and starting to put it back together. Hope your bed has less rust than mine 😂

After you cut the frame you cut off the poinys of the triangle how much did you measure back for that

If my memory serves me correctly, it was 2” back from the point of the frame. That’s not a super critical measurement so anything from 1-2” should work. I trimmed it back and curved the cut line so when the frames were overlapped the weld line didn’t come to a sharp point.

You got to take 4” off where the bumper goes I think

That’s the plan! 4” will be coming off the back of the frame when I do the frame repairs.

Got a question. Can you have cut it under the cab just saying?

Possibly but that would also create its own challenges. You’d have to move the rear cab crossmember and ensure it gets reinstalled so that the cab sits level with the bed. Thanks for watching!
