I just wanna say THANK YOU for this video. Car shop wanted $260 to change spark plug and coil. First i have 2 tool kits that the 8mm was gone outta both of em. Had to go to store to buy that. Trying to pull the coil out but it wouldnt come. Finally got it n the boot is jow stuck in there. My luck. No wd40, had to have some1 bring me some. I was told with the boot being broke inside i couldnt just put the same coil bk in n drive. So I didnt have a car to go get long needle nose pliers. Eventually got it with ripping it a bunch. Got every plastic piece out n hooked the new parts up. Soon as i started it i could tell it was better. Sounded like a car not how mine was putt putting. Lol hopefully someone reads this and can answer this question. Guy at shop said fix my misfire before my o2 sensor. If it fixes i may not need o2 sensor. Can that happen? Thanks for watching. Glad you got the boot out. Been there, done that and It sucks. I am trying to understand what you’re asking? You now have a misfire or you had a misfire and replacing the coils fixed your problem?

@HelpingHandAutoRepair sorry, lol, codes were for misfire 5 and O2 sensor 1 bank 1. Guy at shop told me fixing the misfire might fix the O2 issue. Or will I need to fix the O2 sensor no matter what.

Ah, I understand now. Likely the o2 sensor will need to be replaced depending on which specific code it was. Misfire should be fixed with the coil pack (unless there was any other issue with that cylinder) You could delete the codes and drive it and see if the o2 sensor code returns. Upon which the sensor could be replaced.

@HelpingHandAutoRepair sorry for the confusion. Lol yea I didn't think it would fix the issue. Codes were po305 and po130. Shop wants $195 to change O2 sensor. I thought it was the easy one closer to the windshield not underneath. Idk why they charge so much. Lol but they all do.

P0130 should be the upstream sensor up closer to the windshield. Bank 1 which would be windshield side and BEFORE the catalyst.

Is it normal for the threads to be oil soaked? All of mine were but the plug wells were clean as a whistle. Where was the oil coming from?

Thx for the vid. I've owned a 2004 Taurus SES for years and did most of the repairs. Then I switched to a 2012 Taurus Limited. I have been apprehensive about doing my own work on it, but since I've watched your vid, I'm ready to get going on the big guy. However, there has been so little that has needed repairing or changed, on this car, doing the plugs will be like therapy. So, do you do all makes, or do you specialize in one brand and type of car repair? Great job with video.

The EGR valve on this Honda in the video is located on top of the intake manifold for the number #4 cylinder. When you’re looking at the engine, it will be on the left side of the engine on top of the intake manifold very close to the cylinder head.

What do you mean with “if you have a misfire in a cylinder that’s an other history? I have that on mine 2008 Ford Taurus SEL, but I’m replacing the spark plug, will that fix it up?

I need to rewatch the video but if you a check engine light on for a misfire for a specific cylinder then replacing the spark plugs alone may not solve the problem.

Sir I apologize I was looking at the wrong diagram since there are two engines that were made by ford at this time. Please forgive me for wasting your time. Cylinder three is actually the far right in the back (when looking at the engine of course) Terribly sorry. I assume your code is P0303?

If you are standing in front of the engine: The back (closest to inside the car) 1-2-3 (reading left to right) Front of engine (closest to front of car) 4-5-6 (reading left to right)

As you look at the engine from the front of the car, cylinders 1-3-5 are in the back from left to right. Cylinders 2-4-6 are in the front from left to right.

You undo the bolt that is holding it down and unclip the connector. Then the coil will pull up and off.

The 3.7L is just an enlarged version of this 3.5L not many changes as far as I can tell. Just a longer stroke I believe.
