I just want to thank you immensely for this video. I used it to set my timing and firing order on a 74 351 I’d never heard running and it fired first pop with perfect timing.

I’ve got one on my Clevo . I can highly recommend these systems over the likes of an MSD ! Crane f 246 at 50 . 22 deg initial and 10 deg total all in 2800 rpm is from memory was program A . 10.8 to one on 98 . FYI .

I was thinking of buying a MSD 85804 distributor that has a crab style distributor cap. My mid engine Pantera does not have very much room between the firewall and distributor.

Any recommendations for getting a dizzy machined down to fit a late cleveland block? The hyperspark I have to install for sniper doesn't come in black motor block dizzy shaft size 👎
@thclevoking
@thclevoking 4 жыл бұрын
Its easy with a drill, 5/16” oil pump drive shaft, a good flat steel file, sandpaper and a vice. You use the drill to spin the shaft and a block of wood to stable the shaft as it spins you gently file it at a lowish speed with hardly any pressure. It’s only 12.9mm to 12.5mm it’s really easy. Sandpaper to smooth it out at the end.

Hey clevo king, just curious can a clevo bore be sleeved? I know somone selling one dirt cheap, it’s been played with before “30 tho over piston” 351 crank, but it has pitting in one cylinder and I know 30 over is about the safe limit. Just thought I’d ask before pulling the trigger on buying it.
@thclevoking
@thclevoking 4 жыл бұрын
Of course you can sleeve one. A lot of people don’t know the sleeve material is better then the original metal and helps form a better ring seal.

you really have shop around good blocks are still out there and be honest on how hard you are going to push a std block . How much do you value the block I did a chev boat motor that had 2 x .040 over pistons in a std block old owner only fixed the dud bores this mentality was enough for us to recycle the block and get another

Greetings from Canada mate, so I rand new to owning a clevo engine, even having what I believe are timing issues , so what I'm getting from your video is that setting initial timing when installing a a new dizzy is around 8 degrees on stock engine ? I believe my engine to be stock. What is your recommendation for all in timing and at what ram? Installing pertronix igniter II dizzy

@thclevoking have you ever heard of a cylinder running 200 to 300 degrees farenheight hotter than the other cylenders? For example my # 1 #2 #4 cylinders run around 500 degrees # 3 is always sometimes 200 degrees hotter you think this is timming issue or internal engine issue? Like I said I'm new to this cleveland stuff

Hey guys love your work! I have decided to buy an ICE system for my 351 Cleveland after the ready to run MSD shit itself. (After watching your video) 1/ what spark plugs are you using? 2/ Do I really setup the ignition facing 3? 3/ Should I get the large cap or small? Cheers Rick
@thclevoking
@thclevoking 3 жыл бұрын
I like to use autolite 25s, you don’t have to set it up like that but it’s the neatest way to do it. Large cap is great for higher revs because the terminals are further apart less chance of spark jump but you can’t use a huge air filter. Small caps is the go for most street cars.

Once the distributor gear is meshed with the cam gear why cant you just put a socket on the crank bolt and turn it until the distributor drops in 🤔
@thclevoking
@thclevoking 2 жыл бұрын
The oil pump drive engages long before the dizzy gear does, so I just bump the oil pump not to interfere with my initial timing. What I show is the controlled method so you know the timing before initial startup. Welcome to do what works for you 👌

Nice one Ozzy! Do you have a preference between using the ICE Set up over a MSD 6AL/2 combo? My Clevo is going to get some more spark power this year and am hearing good things about both. What has your experience been? Can't wait to hear this thing fire up!! Cheers man 👍

Nice work bloke, But i don't get the $5 crappy fuel filter you use and i always see on peoples cars. Go get a decent micron filter that you can pull apart and clean out regularly and that's not in the engine bay getting all the heat.
@thclevoking
@thclevoking Жыл бұрын
We are not a fan of the glass ones that screw apart had nothing but trouble wiith them, but I like the Aeroflow and magnaflow sealed billet filters. It’s easy to change the filter once an engine is broken in and the $5 one has done its job ro let us see fuel. Nothing worse then not knowing what’s happening with the fuel, and with the cheap plastic ones you can see there is fuel the sky is the limit with filtration possibilities afterwards.
