Ford 4.6 Fan Clutch Replacement - Without Tool

I have to replace the pump on my '95 4.9l and I wanted to see how to do it without the tool. Thanks, will try the rapping with hammer since I am putting on as new pump. Might be worried about damaging the wp bearings otherwise. But you did get me thinking about a fan clutch, @ 250k mi. sure it could use one.

It not only makes your truck sound like the ol bluebird school bus,But it will also knock the bushing out of the water pump! And if not caught in time, It will get loose and the serpentine belt comes off and can wrap around the front of the engine pullys and destroy all kinds of shit! Oh,And just for the record, Its called a spanner wrench that removes the clutch fan.😉 And you are correct! It robs the engine of a ton of power when locked up.

you mean for idiots that might not want everything can learn.... hey you cant over educate yourself and if its all garbage then you didnt miss a thing.... but if you miss something vital or helpful...... yeah you're that guy and you cant even be like well I tried cuz ya didnt.... this stuff is tedious its not a lego set...

di you put in a standard fan clutch or severe duty ? did you change the water pump too ?

I used the standard and no I didn't.

I don't know what you're smoking, but there no way I'm hammering on a knuckle buster on a clutch fan that is attached to the water pump. Get the damn tool and do it right
