Hi Randal, thank you for sharing your 4500 journey. Great job on videos, I have gleaned much valuable info. As I am in the middle of my 4500 steering tune up. Once again thank you, your videos have helped immensely. Looking forward to more. David from Goldendale Washington

Where exactly are those Bushings in the steering arm center pivot

that threaded hole in the pin you replaced is a pipe thread isnt it? you can attach a zerk and force grease down that center hole and it will travel through the cross drillings right? i realize you said you put a fine thread bolt in to leverage the pin out but are you sure that bolt wasnt just close enough to catch the pipe threads? typically you force grease in and then plug it until service is required again.

I had the same situation and used a similar way of doing it. I used a very large socket with a fine thread bolt and a washer, turning the bolt slowly, tapping on the top of the volt after every turn and it came out. It took a while but it came out. make sure you use plenty of WD and I suggest you spray it several times and leave overnight to make sure. Since there is tons of dust there if it was not lubricated after every use, it is likely pretty stuck but it does come out.

I am removing the large bolt that holds the pivot arm in the front center of the tractor. I can't find how it is removed. it does not have a way of prying it out. I would think that you turn back the bold 5 or 6 turns and hit the head which 'should' pot the backside, but it is solid like steel. It has no way of placing a pulley on either side. I am wondering if the grease fitting connects to the shaft somehow so I will try that next. Mine has a lot of play and I bought the bushings for it, just getting them out is the hassle. I saw the parts diagram but can't figure out how to remove it. Anyone has a way of doing it or has any suggestions, I'd appreciate some help.

Thanks for making the video. I too have a 4500 and in process of rebuilding the steering. Im having a heck of a time pulling the 1" spindle pin. Used a 12 ton press, hammered on it, and just won't come out. Can the pin come out the bottom or through the top. Is it tappered? Thank for the help.
