Ford 5.4 Broken Flywheel Flex Don't Pull Down The Transmission

Here You Can Remove And Reinstal It With Out Pulling Down The Tranny.

Recently after very cold day, my Ford F150 2002 start leaking coolant (water) from the flywheel. What can cause that? Those seals that I see behind the flywheel? I think the name is Expansion Engine plug or freeze plug! Thanks!

the freeze plugs, when they go bad they leak.

Don't know if you fixed it yet. On the f-150, under the intake manifold, it makes a valley between the heads. In that valley is a water line that straight out of the back of the water pump. That line has a bad problem with rusting out. Water will flow to the back of the engine and run down between the engine, and the bell housing. There are also two freeze plugs in that area.

I need to see how to do it in the f150, the top 2 bolts. What’s the secret or socket extension swivel combination?

hi, very long xtension and 13mm swivel socket you get one out by the right side n the other one by the left side of the tranny. thanks for visiting this channel

@@JM-AUTO thank you so much for the quick reply! And thank you for letting me know. I just wish we could get this car going. My husbands trying to fix it. My husband went to start the car and it would turn 3 times and then make clunking sounds and not start. You can hear the whizzing of the starter engine the whole time but that’s it. He was finally able to get it started every once in awhile the first day or two but now it turns over and does the whizzing sound and that’s it. It won’t start. He took out the starter and tested it with a battery and cables. He said it seems fine (a little rough sounding- but fine). We don’t know what else it could be.

@@tayratliff777 the fact that the starter pinion comes out and turns it does not mean is good try to bring it to a place where it can be tested, I also have videos on how to test the starter when they come out and turn but they are bad, when they are tested out of the car they can come out and turn easily because they are not doing any thing but to turn the engine over they need so much power n be in great condition, do you have the check engine linght on? if yes scan it and see what codes are stored in the ECM. let me know any thing.

Because perfect alignment of the engine and transmission are not possible, the flexplate can absorb the minute misalignment. As misalignment increases, the flexplate flexes more. This continual flexing eventually causes the metal to fatigue and the flexplate, most of the time from all of the above the flexplate end up overheating and then is when it breaks, also this flexplate is too thin for the big engine and tranny, so clearly the engine, transmission and misalignment overpower the flexplate.
