Just did this to both sides. Total time about 8 hours including time to reseal injectors and oil rails. KZbin is such a great way to learn almost anything. Nice post.

man I want to thank you for making this video and adding the links for the parts... I'm elbow deep in a 6.0 now and this is the first time I have run across the nipple cup seals leaking... It's driving me crazy!!
@cr38er11 жыл бұрын
Drove me crazy too. I ended up upgrading to a harder durometer O-ring. See the links in the video description if you haven't seen the update video. I'm also testing some custom rings I ordered too.

I just replace my nipple cups and orange and was worried that the prongs were not good because my nipple cup was still moving but I can see in your video that even after your replacement you still were able to move this part. My old prints were stiff and when crushed held that shape as the new ones popped back to original shape. Thank you for the video

I found the tool cheap on eBay for $50 or so same/same early vs late model. I took a spare Unimog lug nut (24mm), drilled out the center and then using a flapper wheel took a little material off little by little to make the "nut" 23mm. I then fine tuned the center to fit the nipple using a deburing bit. I then took a spare 1/2 drive impact socket and welded it to the side of the lug nut that would face the wheel so I can stick it on a 1/2" ratchet. Ghetto I know but needed something today :)

thank you very much for this information. I will do this sometime when my injector fails. I just today fixed my broken top injector plastic housing that connects up for the injector harness clips. guy who did my oil cooler broke the # 7 injector plastic upper part. what I did is I glued it and no more injector misfire. but haven't drove it yet to really see if it worked. thanks.

Torque spec is 100lbs not 75lbs Also when nipple cup seals failed the oil sprays down on the injector damaging the top seal in the injetor also.

Very nice! Huge help! Getting my injector seals from Ford and those top injector orings from Alliant which Ford doesnt make... paid $120 total for the oring set... I'd rather pay $40 more then get stuck at the boat ramp with the boat stuck in the water now too..... go with the Ford and Alliant for best results. Love the video!

Socket size is 23mm. You may try a shower valve wrench (generally sold in sets at Home Depot). Size would probably be 27/32" .I was going to try this but haven't done it yet. Not sure if they would stand up to the torque. Let us know if you find a commonly available or cheap tool that will work. I'm not sure about the '03-'04 "log" rails. Since they have a different injector interface. If you take yours apart please let us know for future reference. Thanks!

Awesome video! What size socket did you use on the nipple socket? I'm too cheap, plus I need to repair mine today so I'm looking to make a nipple socket. Someone mentioned 15/16. If so that would be the size of a Unimog Lug Nut which I have a few laying around. Do you know if the nipples socket needed is the same size on the "log oil rails" vs the "pretzel oil rail" that you have?

I notice some of the injector o ring kits vary with the number seals that they come with. Some have four, some have six, some have seven or eight. Do you know of anyone selling kits where the nipple cup seal is included? My cups are good. Just want to replace all the seals.

Great video. I am wondering if those seals last long. Do you get come backs. A different you tube channel says no luck with after market seals. Please respond. I trust your judgment because your videos are very detailed with clear and accurate work.

jimmy neutron That other channel is probably mine. I have more than one. This was the first video I did on it. The Bostech seals/nipple cups failed on me. I have since started a company called HHC Diesel and well sell special Heavy Duty Viton Blend O-Rings which outlast the OEM and the others on the market. They have proven themselves and are still going in trucks that had Aftermarket rings fail. We make the best tool for replacing them also. Here is the link for them on amazon and ebay: Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B00U4LYKMY/?tag=cr38er-20 ebay rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=10&pub=5575088352&toolid=10001&campid=5337634278&customid=&icep_uq=&icep_sellerId=cr38er&icep_ex_kw=&icep_sortBy=12&icep_catId=&icep_minPrice=&icep_maxPrice=&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

Good video etc, but man this 6.0l is one huge money pit... Lol in my opinion the parts r way too expensive to justify rebuilding a 6.0l... Hpop, ipr valve, egr coolers or deletes, Oil cooler. Etc etc etc... It never ends with a 6.0l... I want to rebuild my engine but just cant justify all the costs... Plus mine has a skip in the engine when it turbs over( wont run) prolly the cylinder is scewed or piston cracked etc?? Bottom line is if the parts 4 these 6.0l were cheaper i think it would make

@abrideforchrist42476 жыл бұрын

How much air pressure should I run through the oil rail to test for leaks??????
@GadgetClass8 жыл бұрын
at least 100 psi
@jmvenega98 жыл бұрын
I replaced my nipple cups and seals as well as injector seals. Tested oil rail itself for leaks and and found none. But when I screw oil rail back on to injectors and pump air through the ipr valve at 100 psi I still hear leaks around oil rail.... Is this normal??? Where should Start looking for the problem? Please any help or advice would help. Ive been working on this issue for over a year and I cant seem to ever solve it. Thanks
@GadgetClass8 жыл бұрын
+Jose Venegas did you start the truck? It takes a good priming to fully seat the seals. we recommend starting and running around the block then retest.
@jmvenega98 жыл бұрын
I primed the engine and turned it on. It was really hard turning it on but after ideling for about 30 mins and turning it off I could not get it turn back on again. Turned on Only after spraying a little gas in the intake. So im assuming it is not building enough pressure to turn on. Should I still run it around the block to see if it seals better or should I just start taking it apart and assume the issue is with the injectors? And buy new ones if neccessary since I had already purchsed and put in new seal kits for injectors.
@GadgetClass8 жыл бұрын
+Jose Venegas They always take a while to start a few times after the oil rail has been off. the air needs to purge out of the system. Yes running it around the block or further is always the first thing you do when you get it running again.

Indeed the 6.0L has some weak points and if you aren't doing repairs yourself you might as well get a different truck because it gets expensive way too fast.
