Lay Tig filler rod in those future gaps when Mig welding. It works wonders. Great job on the build!!!

Thanks, once I learn how to tig with this machine I will try that trick. I was going to do that with the mig, but decided the way I ended up doing it might be easier.

@@MuddyBeards4X4 it is a trick for mig welding. That's one way to fill gaps when mig welding.

I just re-read this, so put a raw piece of tig filler rod in there, and then mig over it? puts more materiel in there all at once?

A new fabricated housing is $700-$800. They are available with larger 3.5" tubes. You could have used full-floating axles with unit bearings and rotors with separate aluminum hats. It would have been simpler, stronger, lighter. More expensive...yes, but not much. But you would have saved A LOT of time.

How straight is the axle housing after adding all that heat to one side?

Regarding welding onto the pumpkin, is the shell on the pumpkin cast or just simple steel?

What mig do you use 50a ? Is it conventional or auto like a newer Miller ? Just try'na get some insight for myself.. I have an older Miller 180 220v and looking to upgrade to an Autoset. My buddy has an older 220 autoset, can't remember model #, but it runs smooth for it's size but limited to 5/16 or 3/8.. Any recommendations, not a professional welder, leaning more in your direction of projects. Love your video's, I learn something new everytime..

I am confused. What was the point of angling the pinion to 16 degrees if the truss is a zero? Is the top of the truss parallel to the axle shaft. Does it matter since your links can just rotate however.
@MuddyBeards4X44 жыл бұрын
I did that to get my pinion angle where I wanted it. If I left the same angle as the pinion, as the axle flexed up the upper control arms would hit the front of the truss, limiting travel.

Just because you don't have experience welding doesn't mean that you need to have consistency I'm an experienced welder and I don't have consistency the reason is I don't have QC breathing down my neck they dont gotta be pretty all the time

That truss doesn't look like the 9" truss, looks like the one for a Dana 70 on the Barnes website. Am I right?

@@MuddyBeards4X4 I appreciate the time you take to put these videos together. I'm a fledgling "fabricator" and have, for the last year been investing in all the bare minimum of fabrication tools (mig welder, bandsaw, drill press, etc...). So seeing your progress with a lot of the similar tools (and brands like HF), it helps me relate and give me confidence in my future build projects. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
