I bought a Capri in 1973 after returning home from 3 1/2 yrs in Europe. It was NOT badged as a Ford, but a Mercury!! I bought it from a Lincoln Mercury dealership. I thought I was getting a European spec model. It was not. I thought all the company's cars were the same. But I soon learned that we in the good 'ole U.S.A.' got the dummied down performance specs. I tried to up the performance - headers, higher lift cam, stronger valve springs, electronic ignition!! But at the time there was only so much (in my mind) you could do with 2600 cc's (barely 160 cid). I even put on side pipes, but I think there wasn't enough back pressure to help the engine or something like that!! All my knowledge was self taught, so basically the car was my Frankenstein experiment. Trying to duplicate the life in the German and British models. I was so disappointed in the outcome. But still didn't give up! Added tires so wide in the rear I needed air shocks to prevent the fenders from cutting them to pieces. It was a lot of fun. Great to look at, but I could never get the performance I wanted. Taught my wife how to drive a stick in that car! She LOVED it! She'd race anything that pulled alongside. I taught her that also. 'You race for the FUN of it, even if you know you're outclassed'. Her love didn't last! Soon after the car was gone too! Looking back I should have bought something that would be worth thousands today, but who knew?? I didn't...if I had I'd still have my '64 Impala SS, my '65 Malibu SS conv., my '67 Mustang coupe, my MG B, my Austin Healy, my '69 Ford XL, my, my, my, the list goes on!!! Perhaps I can get over them, now that I have spoken their names out loud. I miss them ALL. At the time it was, get them have some fun go get another one! Now that I am thinking about it I looked at my wife the same WAY!!! I will NEVER get over her. Peace out...

Yes mate I remember these Capri when I was young bloke back then and a car which I could never afford of course and in the UK these came with a smaller engine but the style and performance was still very much appreciated. The only thing I don't like about Fords decision to make these vehicles again is making them hybrid as I am very anti EV!

Continental is the exact same model that was stopped in 2020 or 2021. It wasn’t selling well because it expensive. It had a Special Edition with the Scissor Doors aka Suicide Doors which sold $100K Plus. The Thunderbird is an ugly bird & not luxurious at all. They tried making it a family sedan but it wasn’t a good car. The Capri was not known stateside as a Ford but, as a Mercury Capri. Mercury Capri was never known to be a sports car. It had those CC Engines. Just like a great deal of the foreign cars had. They were called peddle jumpers. They didn’t have the horsepower to pull any hills or mountains. If you stepped on the gas pedal to the floor boards it still wouldn’t pull up a mountain. I’m surprised Ford isn’t putting these names on SUV’s & Pickup’s. They need to bring back the MKZ. Although the last design was hideous. People turn & look at my MKZ. They ask me what it is & compliment how beautiful the car is.

Since when were the Mercury Capri and the Ford Thunderbird high end luxury cars? I remember these cars, and they pretty basic. Also, Ford already reintroduced the Thunderbird as a luxury car; although it was priced as one, it certainly was not. This ordinary car was so over priced, almond no one purchased one. After a couple of years, they disappeared from the market. This fiasco was a real blow to the Thunderbird enthusists.

However, the Capri was a European Ford model, and sold as a Ford in other parts of the world. It was imported to the US and sold through Mercury dealers as a "Mercury", but it was basically the same car as sold in Europe and elsewhere as a Ford, with only changes to comply with US safety and emissions regulation. .

Lincoln Continental, repeat a 2 door lincoln continental and a 2 door convertible luxury. Lincoln Continental, no, that's the only way. To be successful with a Coyote V8 motor on it and also bring back. The Lincoln mark series the mark 7 and mark 8 and the mark 9. Then your hair people will be looking. That Lincoln Continental is a beautiful car with some god-awful, butt ugly rims. It would look better with rims similar to the rims on my 2011 Crown Victoria. They are a five spoke aluminum rims, designed similar to rims on lots of cars from the sixties and seventies.

First off they already did the continental several years ago and they stopped doing it. I believe in 20 or 21 because of poor sales. They added the coach doors as one last hurrah before it was discontinued and I have checked the Lincoln website and there is no plans on bringing back the Continental And ask for Ford Thunderbird, or the Mercury Capri Capri was under the Mercury badge. It was not under Ford ever and if you check Ford’s website, there is no plans on bringing either one of these cars back. They have talked about the new 24 Mustang. They’ve talked about some new additions to the F150, but there has been no Mentionof a Thunderbird or Capri if they are bringing any of these back, it will not be for the US market. It is strictly going to be for China in Japan. We will never see these vehicles on the US shore.
