I get the appeal of these cars as being durable, reliable comfortable, and having very low upkeep and acquisition costs. But they were never fast cars even by the standards of their day.
@idrivestuff45512 жыл бұрын
I agree completely.
@timothy93602 жыл бұрын
They can be made to be decently quick. 150 shot of nitrous really wakes these up. Or a big turbo or twin turbos can be welded up in no time. Especially with all the mods mentioned in this video. You can get these up to 400hp "safely" anyways. I've seen a few go a bit above that and make it. 400-425hp is not bad with a few weight loss modifications.

@@timothy9360 How would you say these mods affect a 2004 CVPI with 202 MI on it the engine? Do you need a new tranny?
@timothy93602 жыл бұрын
@@MarzMindset These cars love all these mods and most of them should've came factory. As far as the tranny that all depends on the condition it is. If it is not slipping at all then I would say it's safe to jmod it. If you have kept up with the fluid changes your trans should be fine.
@Kindalouddecaf2 жыл бұрын
These cars were initially built to run 120 behind someone longer than they can. Being they run out of gas, crash or grenade the car the Vic’s job was to 1.) stay close enough 2.) not grenade and 3.) handle excellent at top speed. So no they werent quick, but you can bounce it off the speed limiter for longer than 99% of production cars without running into any problems.

I had a 93O Marty Marquis tune and I barely noticed a difference in acceleration over the 87O tune. Granted, both were better than stock, but for the step up in fuel price in the 93O tune, I was quite disappointed. I only used it once and stuck to 87O thereafter.

I had thrush turbo mufflers at first. Quiet but still rumbly at idle and wakes up when floored. Switched to cherry bomb glass packs and never looked back. Pure flow and sounds great exp with a resonated tip before the rear tire. They sound great on my 1973 ford f100 with a carbed 302 v8 (edelbrock avs2 4 barrel carb, edelbrock performer rpm dual plane aluminum intake with a 4 hole 2" spacer between) regular exhaust manifolds, true dual exhaust though, msd hei ignition, C4 trans with a b&m srage 2 shift kit and a huge trans cooler. Dual electric fans and a huge 4 core radiator. Lightened pulleys. 9" lsd rear end but only like 3.27 gears. Rear air helper shocks. Itll burn the rubber off some 33x10.50x15 tires. But with some explorer 5.0 heads, headers (hard to find cuz it originally had a 360ci but last owner swapped 302 in so the cross members in the way of long tube headers). It smokes my vic tho. Our 85 chevy k10 is whole other class of fast tho lol

30 or 40 seconds for all that money. No thank you. Wait until your transmission goes out, which it will. These are not hot rod muscle cars they are grey hounds built for endurance. Every mod you put on one of these things puts that much more stress on the engine and transmission. It's your money of course and if you want to blow it you are free to do so.

That goes for all cars though. You modify any car and increase the power you have to upgrade the rest of the components. Saying it only happens to crown vics is a stupid thing to say. Also a simple 93 octane email tune is like $100.
