I have two F-150's (2018 and 2020) with the FX4 package and factory wheel lip moldings/flares. The 2018 has the earlier front bracket system, as featured in this video, and is installed in the manner described here...that is, with the aluminum mounting plate "suspended" between the actual metal fender lip and the plastic flare. The 2020 has the later front bracket installed (by the Ford dealer), again, with the aluminum mounting plate sandwiched in between the metal fender lip and the plastic flare. However, in another of your install videos, it appears the later bracket is intended to be installed between the fender liner and the metal fender lip... even if the truck has the factory optional fender lip moldings/flares. Is the updated bracket, indeed, intended to be mounted "behind" the metal lip of the fender on both trucks with and without the optional plastic fender lip moldings? I would prefer the latter method of installation, as it seems to me the mudflap bracket would be more stable since it is secured by the lower two factory installed screws in the fender opening (and thus firmly "clamped" between the metal fender and the liner). In the case of my 2018 with the older style bracket, I attempted to reposition the mounting bracket between the fender liner and the metal fender lip, but it appeared to me that the plate/mudflap mounting surface would be too far rearward in the fender well, relative to the plastic fender flare opening.

There is no issue with the flare supporting the outside edge of the flap bracket. There are a couple variations in the brackets, but they all fit inside the flare the same way. We've never had any issues with the flaps coming loose or moving around or really anything.

ERROR in VIDEO: Look at 3:24 and at 3:34 the expansion nuts on the mounting bracket are REVERSED! You will flip them for the other side, so BEWARE this is not a step by step video. The paper instructions included are terrible.

The expansion nuts will work both ways. Our installer actually prefers to install them the reverse way because they can't pull through the plate.

Is this compatible if I already put on Bushwacker fender flares?

You can make these flaps work with Bushwacker flares in certain situations. If you have put a large set of tires on the truck you may have a tire rub. The flap also won't extend out to the edge of the flare where most installers would want to put it. This video should be updated or taken down not the same bracket anymore not the same installation steps just made me pull a clip for no reason and now it’s broken. When it says in the instruction to consult the video very annoyed with this.
