You are absolutely, hands down, my favourite KZbin mechanic. You don't leave critical information out of your video and you don't ramble just to talk. Thanks for being so informative and easy to watch / listen too. I have already performed 6 repairs in the last month on my 2006 Ford Escape that just turned over 187,500 miles. Everything has gone smoothly. A few times, I had my phone handy so I could re-watch portions of your videos while doing the work. Please, keep them coming :-)

You are amazing!!! I have followed your videos to successfully do repairs on my 2011 Ford Escape for the past 3 years. You have been right on things that mechanics who are physically looking at my car do not diagnose properly. You have made repairs doable for someone who isn not even mechanically inclined, and some that I would not have afforded the expensive shop prices in my area, to have had fixed. As a woman, I am now more confident in speaking with local mechanics because of your videos. You're a brilliant mechanic who is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!!

Hello i would like to thank the Ford Tech Makuloco for the great video on replacing the left seal , bushing & stub shaft on my 2010 ford escape . I got a quote from a local repair shop in our town and he quoted me $3500 , so i took it to a Ford dealer repair shop in Vernon BC and the tatal bill was less than $ 700 parts and labour . I asked the service manager if he had seen your video and he said he had . some times it is way better to go back to a service shop , that sells your make of vehicle. Great video and very knowledgable mechanic. Thanks for saving me close to $3000 dollars .George Bubuik

The only suggestion I have is when loosening or tightening a nut bolt combination hold the bolt and turn the nut. That give the least resistance and a greatly reduced chance of breaking a bolt. In torquing it provides a much more accurate torque because the shaft of the bolt friction gives false torque readings. A old Machinist taught me that 10,000,000 years ago.

The blind hole puller set #27128 from Autozone will work, the largest size puller says it goes to 1 1/4' but it will extend a little further than that and will fit the bushing which is about an 1 3/8". I used the Bearing Race and Seal Driver set #67034 from O'Reillys to install the new bushing and the seal. Both tools can be rented for free.

FWIW, although the WSM says to drain the trans you don't need to. During the process you only lose a minimal amount of fluid. Once done just a little top off is needed. Saves time and fluid.

I just did this job on my Escape. I purchased this Blind Hole 10pc Slide Hammer Pilot Bearing Puller Internal Extractor Removal Kit from amazon but the largest puller is not big enough. Luckily I could machine the collet to allow it to expand a little further. Also I machined a bushing installer and if you don't have a lathe a local machine shop could do this for you.

Great vids Brian. I have an 06 escape cd4e trans . I have replaced the seals twice. The Ford brand seal was definitely better than t&#ken seal. I have slop up and down where the axle meets the trans.. You have said this is normal. My car has a high speed shimmy. the tires look good and I have had the tires balanced. The problem still exists. I was wondering if the old bushing is causing this?

Great Info......this is a known issue with the ford escape...having mine done today...fortunately I purchased the extended plan, currently at 73,000 miles and noticed the leak......dealership wanted 1300.00 to fix it but only had to pay 50.00 co-pay...Ford needs to get it together...been a ford guy my whole life but I have to say I am going to give my business to another manufacturer.....every ford I have had goes sour around the 75,000 mile to 5 year period like clock work and when dealing with the dealership they treat you like they owe you money and kind of shruge you off....I'm in sales and I know it to be a fact that the salesman sales you the first one but customer services sales you the next on and the dealerships for Ford simply put.................suck after you make a purchase.....Just saying

I just tried installing this kit on my 2010 and ran into some issues since I live in the rust belt. No matter what tool I threw at it, that cv axle would not separate from the hub. Air hammer, bfg, 3 jaw puller and even map gas torch didn't work. I disconnected the tie rod end and separated and assembled the transaxle side cv with the axle still in the hub...it sucked.

FordTechMakuloco - Love your videos. Very clear and helpful! With the Covid-19 I have extra time on my hands so trying to do this repair. Running into a challence removing the axle from the transmission housing. In neutral, and I've rotated it a few times. Cannot seem to remove it. I don't want to force it and potentially cause internal damage or external damage to the housing. Anything else I can check or try?

For anyone else having this same problem, I finally got it. Just kept rotating and prying. It did NOT come out as easily as in this video! I had to really bang on it a few times! Looking in carefully, no internal damage visible nor any cracks to the housing. So just be ready to possibly have to really work at it.

EXCELLENT video (as usual)!!! I do have a question. I just changed the left front wheel bearing on my daughters 2009 Escape. I got the knuckle assembled onto the lower ball joint and then the rain started (having to work outside sucks). So, while everything is basically still disassembled it seems it would be a good time to proactively install the bearing, seal and stub shaft kit. The question is, does the 2009 still require the kit, or was the inboard shaft micro-finish problem fixed at the factory level in 2009? Thank you again for doing ALL you videos!! You are the best at this!!!!!

Thanks to FordTechMakuloco my 2014 F-150 is properly maintained as a result of his maintenance tips. To be specific, I followed his advice to perform rear axle and transmission services early (Ford says 100,000 miles). I opened up my pumpkin and found that Ford had installed only 2 of the required 3-1/2 quarts of 75-140 gear lube. I flushed my transmission and found only 9 qts were installed of the required 13 qts. I wonder if Ford uses the cost savings resulting from short-changing new vehicles fluids to increase thier profit reports? I trusted my Ford dealer to perform fluid checks on all serviceable items. With a mere 59,000 miles on my truck, if I hadn't serviced these two critical driveline components, my out-of-warranty repairs would have been thousands of $'s.

No videos for the right side of transmission, between transmission and PTU? Left side & right PTU seal videos by chance as well? If we have engine & transmission out of vehicle do we need to replace middle seals? It's a 2010 Escape Limited AWD. The right side seals will have to be replaced and the drivers side as done in this video is leaking. Seems for 72k miles on this the transmission has been out of the car before though the owner said she can't recall I see marks from a colored marker where they marked what bolts went where in the past. I'm just swapping the engine as the #4 cylinder got a hole in the piston cylinder thru the block last November when her son picked it up the morning after the bar in sub zero weather. He started it and was there less than a minute warming it up. Next thing we knew it had a oil leak thanks to the ingenuity of the son failing to warm the vehicle up properly. I got the job about a month ago and have been swapping it out at their house in their garage in my spare time. Hope my cheap harbor freight seal driver kit will drive the left side seals in. I'd looked at the drivers side CV Axle shaft when I removed it from the vehicle and didn't see any abnormal wear on the shaft so I'm going to throw a seal in it and send it as everything else looked ok on the left side.

I had this problem last week. Was experiencing rough shifting so I checked fluid level. To my surprise it was low. I figured I'd just change the transmission fluid but when I got under there I noticed the leak. I took it to Robin Ford in Glenolden, Pa since it is still under warranty. When I picked it up I again noticed some hard shifting. Checked the fluid and it was overfilled. Also noticed the hood prop was not placed back in its holder (the little things). I looked under the trans and sure enough, they did not change the Stub Shaft. I can't be sure because I can't check it. but I bet they didn't replace the bushing either, and I'd bet my paycheck they didn't wipe out the old grease and replace it. What can I do in this situation other than go back and complain?, Maybe they will replace the Stub Shaft, but I'm sure these slobs won't replace the bearing. I am now noticing slow cranking since picking it up. Coincidence?? How can I trust these guys? I checked battery voltage after she sat overnight and it read under 11V. I started it up, getting even slower crank, and I am getting 14.6 V. Took the battery out to put it on charge and it went to full charge in a couple of minutes. Took it off charge and it read 12.6V. What would cause the battery to read low voltage when in the car with nothing on? To top it off it's Thanksgiving day and I can't go there and choke anyone.

Dang- I bought a used 2011 Escape with a minor trans. leak, found out it's probably this inner transaxle seal. Took it to one autoshop, they said 'they didn't have the correct tool' so they brought it to a transmission shop, they just called me and quoted me $1,000, but they also might need a special tool.. not sure which tools they're referring too... I hope its not that expensive of a fix. I got ripped off from the dealer if so... bummer

Awesome video. I'm stuck though, I can't get the original shaft out of the transmission. Tried to pry it like crazy, to the point where I was worried about damaging the case. Any tips? I'm jacking from the ground, makes everything harder.

Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem and don't want to risk internal damage or cracking the transmission case by prying too hard. I've followed the video advice to turn the axle a few times to hopefully release the clip inside, but no help.

Accidentally pulled my inner CV joint out when replacing lower control arm on my 2013 SE AWD Escape. And now doesn't seem to want to slide back in like your vid shows. Yes, it's still attached to the hub, any suggestions?
