Had a shop quote me $400 for this so I went a bought a $70 HF puller while using this an a couple other videos for reference thanks for helping me save money

take some advice don't mess around and buy the nearly 400 dollar tool once you get to seal fifteen minutes later the seal and bushing are out and new ones in and no contamination.if your a mechanic time is the thing tools are an overhead that will pay back in future.tool kit comes with puller, installer,and 5 seals and 5 bushings the installer has arrows to align the bushing up in housing.don't forget to change the c/v assembly the shaft is more than likely scared up from the bushing grinding against it. asked around for what type fluid finally looked on dipstick mercon lv.

The tool is quick and easy, but not necessary to have, to do this job. If one is going to do a lot of these, then the tool would be a good investment. However, if it is a do-it-yourself person, then it can be done the way that I show.

I just ordered the seal and bushing mines a 2010 fusion. Mine has the notch in bushing too. Noticed in a few other peoples videos there bushing don’t have the notch ..

You worried about little shaving in the diff from air hammering that busing out? What do you think wore that busing out?

Not worried about what is coming from the bushing. it is miniscule. One can put a rag inside if one wants. Second, for some reason, the bushing likes to wear and cause a leak on this particular transmission. Why, I do not know.

@@thisisyourtransmission Ford used an inferior alloy for the driver-side axle bushing that was prone to greater wear when riding against the steel axle shaft. The driver side seal is also exposed to quite a bit of heat so as the metal expands, it can wear faster. Thus, overtime, the axle contact area with the bushing will wear faster, reducing the axle shaft diameter where it meets the bushing and scoring it enough to provide a well enough opportunity for it to leak. The solution is to replace not only the axle (in many cases depending on wear), but also to use the new, updated bushing that uses a hardened alloy with a special non-wear coating.

This bushing seems to no be for the vehicle, the ford sells the update bushing. Cost like $10, and it does not have any open ended notch like this one on you video. It also has a red Teflon coating inside to protect it. U also need to use loctite 648 on the bushing so it does not leak again. This is not the proper fix. Best to get OEM ford parts

If it is a 2wd then the right side would have a bushing. However, I never had to change the right side before so I could not provide you a link to it. What is happening with the right side?

I keep having transmission fluid leaks from the seal. I replaced the axle and the seal three times.

Was this throwing like a P09 code? I think mine is leaking and the pressure control solenoid is causing a check engine light. Plus its been low on trans fluid and looks wet around the driver side axle. same year 2011 with about 180k

Never heard of a p09 code. However, if a transmission is low on fluid, pressure codes will set.

So this bushing is about 5mm wider than stock? I got this same problem but the kit i bought has a bushing that is a little bit wider. Does it still work?

If the bushing has not destroyed the axle, then you can just change the bushing and seal.
