I used the same EVA rubber garage seal on my Escape cowl repair project. It looks good and works well. I cut and scraped off as much of the old rubber as possible and then I just sandwiched the strip of garage seal between the cowl pieces and the window. I didn’t use any adhesive at all because I wanted it to be easy to replace again in the future. I felt that screwing the cowls back in held the seal strip tightly enough against the glass without adhesive. It has been through a rainy season with no problems so far. The only change I would make is I might add a little adhesive or sugru at the ends where it’s not holding quite as tightly against the glass.
