One set came right off. 1set I had to drive head off bolt

While investigating a possible rear wiper motor parasitzing my battery and discovering many Ford escape owners had the same problem, my liftgate glass shattered on both sides lol. This after 3 tows and 2 battery replacements. And , of course, I am visiting out of town. I found suitable replacement hinges on Amazon for a reasonable price. After watching you do it I think I can manage it myself. My wife now wants to get a new vehicle but I am kind of determined to stretch my 2011 baby to 2025. Cheers brother.

So I did mine today I was also scared I would brake the window. So I used WD-40 and a ice pick thing kept picking the calcium erosion out around the glass where the bolt goes through the glass , little by little finally after 3/4 of the way , I used vice grips turned right and left it just fell out, hope this helps other's.. Ps.. I did try hammering a little it's pretty hard glass , as well as drilling out button bolt with no luck Finally did what I mentioned above works

I replaced these on my 2009 few years ago. To prevent them from deteriorating again I sprayed a rubberized rust proofing on the back. Worked like a charm.

Good tip! You mean on the flat spots that mount against body?

@@rcpsammy7186 I used a sharp drill bit on my dewalt cordless and drilled through the center hex on the flat washer side. When you get far enough in the head pops right off.

Good luck finding a torx screw and gasket for these hinges. No one offers them separately and hinges from Ford are 85 dollars apiece. I went to the junk yard thinking that was an easy way out but guess what, so did everyone else that had this problem.

They used to be hard to find locally. But there are a lot in metro Detroit salvage yards now. Still a matter of luck sometimes though.

I just bought oem hinges off ebay from dayton ford for $29 bux ,actually $32 with tax
