In this video, I'll be showing step-by-step how to replace the rear brake pads and rotors on a 2016 Ford Escape. Thanks for watching!

What I find amazing about the design of calipers is how a lowly square cut seal elegantly shifts the piston back when the brake pedal is released. After the brakes are pumped back up, the piston takes up the slack so you won't see obvious play beyond that millimeter of movement. And the way the system automatically compensates for pad wear is so simple, it's brilliant.

You are correct Dave and the person who came up with that design is a lot smarter than me 😊 Hoping you and family are doing well and wishing you a super great day!

Nobody on youtube videos does a better video than you. I think even Joe Biden would be able to understand your vidioes if he played them in slow motion a couple times. Thanks for your efforts and help. Your the best on KZbin!!!

Yes, and as you've said before, it stops on a dime and gives back change. Now, I'll have to flush the brake fluid and she'll be good to go. Wishing you and your family much happiness over the holiday season. Have a super great day!

@@ozzstars_cars Thanks Glen and 2022 was one hell of a year, but I fear that 2023 is going to be one hell of a roller coaster ride. Buckle up for the ride. Have a good one Glen!

for anyone else in the same boat in the comments: Piston needs pressure + clockwise rotation; I also didn't have the tool so I used anything I could find to fit (needle nose)

No need for Loctite and a torque wrench...just crank them down tight.
