Thank you! This video was super helpful and straightforward. I just bought a 98 Sedan and i'm flushing everything. Can I use that transmission fluid in the power steering as well? Mine is a little low and its whining.

I think these actually call for mercon atf for their ps fluid. So you should be good

Put a squirt of Lucas in when refilling the power steering to help with pump whine and squeaks

How did you clean the transmission pan?
@operationoverhaul4 күн бұрын
I used lint free rags and brake cleaner to clean the pan.

@@operationoverhaul Ah, okay. I am going to do the same thing on my project. I'm actually gonna be taking down a 1997 ford escort transmission. Not sure when the last time this guy changed the fluid but i'm gonna do my best to get her from leaking at the gasket. I appreciate the quick feedback.

So no merc v for fluid and also what was the reason for you replacing the filter on the vehicle did the customer experience a hard one two shift
@operationoverhaul8 ай бұрын
The main reason was the gasket leaking but it would from slip time to time when taking off from a stop.

@@operationoverhaul okay, yeah I wasn't sure because I've seen a few of these videos where people replaced the transmission filter but they never explain what the reason was specifically like. It must have been just preventative maintenance but I picked up a nice rust-free 2001 Ford escort and it seems like the one two is very hard when it goes in like the car almost wants to wind out and then it goes into gear and this is at like 10 mph. It goes into the next gear. And now what I have read is there's an adjustment on the throttle cable that increases or decreases line pressure but I'm not sure if 2001 has that. But if it does, maybe I could do something like that and it would stop this problem. I'm hoping I don't have to rebuild. I don't want to spend $2,500 on a rebuild
