I know this will sound stupid but I put a super 44 on my ford explorer with a 4.0 v6. For a v6... it sounds great.

I currently have 2010 5.4 with no muffler stock cats but 3 inch single to a 6 inch tip that dumps at the axle its hidden. Absolutely love the sound, sounds amazing going down the road and even chops at idle. Figured in couple years when I turn 30 I'll consider getting a muffler lol straight pipe is for your 20s, 30s is a loud muffler, 40s is somewhat loud muffler or stock exhaust, 50s+ is stock exhaust. Atleast that's the way I look at it lol

The two motors are not the same..One is a 3 valve and one is a 2 vavle

I tried both and super 40 is deeper sounding. Super 44 provides more performance by giving more back pressure to the engine (if your engine needs it)

It is really not a comparison at all first off you have a 1st gen 5.4 versus a 3V 5.4 triton=3valve They both have entirely different idols they both have different. Ti mean just no way to compare is there apples than oranges just saying

Makes no sense to put a 3” muffler on 2-1/2” pipe. Just use a 2-1/2” muffler and avoid the filling the gap with welding.
