Ford F-150 Cylinder 8 Coil Pack Replacement

I just did this on my 1999 ford expedition I did not have to remove the fuel rail. Tools used !/4 drive ratchet extensions and a swivel adapter 7mm socket.

I had my plugs replaced a month ago and now I want to change the coil packs should I check the spark plugs to see if they're dirty and if they are can I clean them

Can I clean these type of spark plugs with carburetor cleaner like other spark plugs I don't want to find out I could have clean them how do I put them all back in I figured I'd do it now while I have the coil packs out

On my 97 5.4, you have to remove the driver side fuel rail in order to replace either #7 or #8 coil or plug

I have same model and motor. What is entailed in removing the fuel rail?

@@TheDouglash 2 bolts. If you need to disconnect fuel lines, youll have to pick up a fuel and ac disconnect tool set. And youll need a big crescent wrench for the nut that holds the egr tube on.

You don't have to remove rail, I just did # 7 with a 1/4 in universal, but tomorrow I'm going to take a 1/4 in long extension (harbor freight) cheap, & torch it & bend to fabricate it just to get around the fuel rail!! Should work!! But like I said I just did it with out removing the rail, so can be done just tight!!

The coil pack mechanical connection is a 7mm bolt, NOT a 7 mm NUT. That coil pack spark plug boot does so exactly sit on top of the plug & snaps on to the top spark plug electrode...!

Yea make sure disconnected the positive battery. Get that off. If. Take fuel line apart. Since if leave battery connect gas will be coming out dont forget to disconnect battery alright
