As a Ram 3500 owner, I'm surprised by this. While I love my truck, it's not quick by any stretch of the imagination. The one up side is that it doesn't seem to get any slower with a 18,000 lb 5th wheel behind it.

Geared low also works for drag racing so it would have been worse if the Raptor had the same gearing. It was just a bit of fun and yes most probably guessed the Raptor would win by horse power to weight ratio.

I'm gonna be the odd man out and say nice video! I enjoyed it. Nice to go to the strip and have some fun regardless of being "evenly matched" or not. This is an interesting demonstration of tq vs hp. Tq can get the bigger truck off the line better, but with a decent launch the higher hp lighter Raptor runs away, as it should be.

It's a shame that such a popular car "review" channel on KZbin does not use scientific or even useful real world comparison tests on their test vehicles. It really does make it seem that whoever produces your show is waiting their money, sometimes the episodes can be entertaining, but only because of the cars/trucks, the hosts seem incompetent more often than not and cannot drive to save their lives.

A true apples to oranges comparison. I like both trucks but would prefer to drive the raptor myself. I am not a farmer and do not have a need for a diesel truck. The seats in the Raptor are very comfortable and I love the sound of the 6.2L. I don't think you can go wrong with either truck depending on what your using them for.

Over a mile above sea level in factory stock vehicles with inexperienced drivers. Put's it into perspective if you look at it that way. At sea level with a competent driver, stock 6.2L Raptors generally run right around 15 seconds in the 1/4, None Raptor 6.2L F-150's are generally a little faster.

That def makes a difference, I think the Highest I can think of in our group was 8,800 DA and ran a 13.7 tune only. I got a buddy with a 6.2 Limited 2013 and it was close when I was stock @ 12lbs of boost. But once I was tuned @ 22lbs it was game over. GM's 6.2 is a good bit quicker than Ford's 6.2 as well

elevation is killing the raptor. bring them to sea level and that raptor will wake up from the extra 18% power. the turbo diesel will add a little but not really enough to feel. the raptor will drop about 1.5 seconds, the dually will drop a tenth or 2.

Wow both of these trucks are much slower than I thought. I'll be honest, I'm not impressed at all with the current generation of trucks, any of them. They used to get stronger, faster and more refined, now it seems like they're just getting heavier and requiring more and more power just to get them moving. All for only tens of thousands more than the last generation.

It's easier and cheaper to do that in the Ram but that 6.2 v-8 has more potential. Thats why nobody uses diesels when it really matters in drag racing against gas engines. That cummins is good for maybe 1500-1800hp built up, the 6.2 is good for 2500hp+ built up. Even the 5.0 has been past 2000hp. Lots of diesel owners do up their pickups because there is a diesel culture but nobody does heavy mods to gas pick ups unless they are purpose built like a Lightning or SRT-10. There are 6 second 5.4 lightnings out there. So when you consider the extra ton this dually hauls around with and the Raptor having a 6.2 gas engine the ultimate engine build up will see the Raptor prevail with ease.
