Just came across your channel. That's one outstanding looking piece of equipment. You have a high degree of knowledge and skill to pull that off. Very clever way you got the steering wheel to replace the steering leavers. Too bad it was too dark to make out how you connected it to the brake actuators at the back. If the tires end up being too soft and foaming still isn't enough I'm one of the operators of a New Holland tractor modified, by Gilbert, to groom snowmobile trails. The tracks are on a skid frame and what they used for idler wheels was 10 ply Galaxy Yardmaster fork lift tires. They seem pretty tough. Downside is they're tube type and are mounted on split rim type wheels. Don’t know if that is necessary.
@marvindebot32646 ай бұрын
yes they need to be on splits, you won't get the beads on a conventional rim, they are too stiff.

For now i think you have the offroad recovery beast pretty much locked up and Matt should consider early retirement opposed to getting shot down in flames :) You must have some Canadian blood in you ..haha Great content, looking forward to see what you come up with next.

Wow, beast of a machine, looks great. Guessing this is meant just for soft conditions, snow, mud, etc.? Also, not much to keep it from sliding sideways. I'd certainly put side plates on the cross bars, both top and bottom, to keep the tracks on, and for better bite. Thanks.

I know, but I actually like the original color better personally. Never been big fan of red, plus that is the hardest color to see at dusk, and dawn, any of the low light conditions. Reminds me of something I've seen before looking at the shape of the hood and the cheeks of the front end.. Can't say fenders any longer being shaved off, and what is the correct term for thst I suppose. The roof line down to the hood sticking out there floating in mid air looks like the original Snoopy when he's got his serious face on fighting the Red Baton in the dog fight.. There's you a name, because I just pulled that from 50 plus years of dusty crowded memory files that definitely need defrauding to sort and complie the data spreed although out my tattered and damaged gray matter. Looks good Wyatt, and it'll look even better finished with all the lights on in the middle of a moonless night reflecting off the snow and stainless trim. Best of all though, is it'll work better, and it'll definitely up your hours labor come freezing whether , and I believe that you'll find it adds to the wet season labor too my young friend. But it'll always be a ever evolving piece of equipment thst you'll always think of the many little additions to improve abs fine tune the different task you're going to be doing far into the future. Is there a set tention for the tracks, because they sure look way too tight to ne.. Based on how sreel tracked equipment has a little droop across the top of the boogey wheels. Sure seems like that's stressing the track system to me, and this would cause your road tires to be crushed too by not only the weight of the vehicle but the pressure applied by the tracks trying to crush the tires themselves. Also stress the pins and the track links where they lock together.. Even more so when turning causing those to wear and fail prematurely due to this, this is also going to cause the tread to wear excessively wouldn't it. No expert of ant kind, but it just looks like the Logical from the looks and sounds of the joints being stressed by how tightly they make a binding sound to me. I realize they Will stretch as they break in from use. How hard is the under carriage to get if you should have future opportunities, is it something easily located, are is it a daily shrinking limited supply at best.
