There is a short hose by the water pump to the motor that is bad about leaking coolant when they are old. You mentioned the coil. If yours works, it is better than a new one you can buy. I watch a lot of mechanic videos and have heard that said many times.

thank you for information about the hose and I will look into the coil.

Sounds like you have a big vacuum leak. Check around the carb base/gasket, and the PCV valve connection to the carb, etc.. A small diameter hose a few feet long will act as a good stethoscope to find vacuum leaks -- hold one end up to your ear and probe around the carb, etc. with the other end, listening for a loud hissing sound. You'll know instantly when you find a vacuum leak. A bad vacuum leak will cause exactly these problems. Good luck. That's a really nice truck, by the way.

I see your brake light switch is not hooked up on the master cylinder. there should be a two wire socket to plug to the two prongs on front of the master cylinder.

thank you for the comment and one the next things we are doing is all the wiring .

Some major advice. Looks like that engine hasn’t been run a lot. Those FE engines are notorious for leaking exhaust manifold gasket’s. Beens how it hasn’t ran much I would take all the manifold bolts out replace the gaskets and put anti seize on the bolts. Do this yearly or you will never get those bolts out with twisting them off in head. When those fe’s start leaking you won’t be able to keep plug wires on it. Don’t believe me, ask anyone who has had to fight an FE engines manifolds
