Awesome video the first fuel pump video i have seen where you pull the bed instead of dropping the tank.

Thanks so much!

It's much easier to pull the bedding off than dropping the tank.

Very informative. Troubleshooting details are presented clearly. Logic evident throughout. I would like to see some of the testing details. I assume a tap for the fuel pressure; I'm curious about amperage test setup and execution. We have a '92 F-series so some of the techniques apply. Thank you- video detail and repair quality are excellent!

I agree...what is hooked up to what for Amp and pressure test. Excellent video otherwise.

I thought about going to the tavern to get some help for cash, but I spent the money on a chain hoist, load leveler and chains that I could use to take it off and put it back on. I put a landscaping timber across a couple of joists in the garage to hang the gear. Now I can hoist other stuff, too!

Our 2016 Expy is crank no start. I’d spray carb cleaner into the throttle body to verify it’ll run but I’ve heard that’s bad for the turbos. I like the amp meter idea. Thank you ❤
@Buckwsr10 ай бұрын
A brief shot of starting fluid or brake clean into the throttle body is a good way to verify that you have spark. Done sparingly, I don't think it will hurt anything.

Also, if your replacing the hose only 1 hose clamp is necessary to remove the motor ❤

My 08 expedition start the same fault, question : I have one external electric pump , can I install temporally ,till move uphill (truck is on street)…then replace the tank fuel pump , if yes , where to install it , immediately after filter or close to injectors rail ? Thanks !!!!!😂😂😂

I had this problem with my 2002 f150 just more than one year after I bought it. I discovered in 2023 that one of the clamps on the fuel hose under the bed was partially broken. I suspect the poor seal allowed fumes to leak out when the line was under pressure (ambient temps). Cycling the key would send fuel to the engine and eventually start.

Take it from a retired Maintenance Supervisor;;; Those 'intermittent problems' ARE a ''P.I.T.A.''!! Make you wanna throw the parts cannon at it! Do your due diligence, test everything,, it'll test your patience! Just gotta remember ''That machine can't out-think you!!''

Instead of grinding the head away couldn't a nut be tacked in place and backed off that way then cut the nut loose?
@johnbouldin903310 ай бұрын
Meant to ask-whose pump did you use? Motorcraft or ? I skipped to the end so if you said the brand in the video, my apologies.
@Buckwsr10 ай бұрын
I used the delphi brand pump. See link in description. Verify the right pump for your vehicle, of course.

Buck since the bolts haven’t been off in 20 years maybe some penetrating oil might have helped some.
@Buckwsr Жыл бұрын
You might have missed it when I mentioned first crawling under the truck to hit those bolts with penetrating oil....I was glad to at least get 5 out of 6 loosened and removed easily.
@rogerhinton3814 Жыл бұрын
Why didn't you weld a nut onto the torx head to continue pulling the bolt from the bed?
@k9under Жыл бұрын
He may be like me don't have a welder.

Where did you connect the amp meter? Can a standard multimeter be used for this? If so, on what setting? I watched both videos. Thanks for making them!
@Buckwsr11 ай бұрын
On my truck, fuse #10 in the under hood power distribution box is for the fuel pump, a 20Amp fuse. You have to remove the fuse, and use your ammeter with prongs inserted on both sides of the fuse socket. I used my harbor freight multimeter on the ammeter setting.

I would of just dropped the tank. Only got 2 strap holding it. By the time you do did to do this job. I’m already finished replacing the fuel pump. Take me 1.5 hours to replace the pump.
