@samanthasfrugalife if you look up BMS reset procedure on the Web you can find the sequence to reset it just like forscan and then you are safe for sure that it is reset and charging your new batteries and not killing them like IT happened to me before I knew about this BMS bs.. it's something like ignition on, engine off press brake pedal x times then pull your turn signal lever X times yada yada... Than you will see the dash battery light on and change yellow to Red and ready.. this is not the actual procedure just sort of outlining it to know what to look for roughly..

I put a section of hard heat resistant rubber under those hold down brackets, and that solved 70% of my corrosion issues on my 2019. Both batteries, both brackets, painted, and rubber.

That’s smart. Are your batteries still off gassing? When I checked mine the water levels were low as well.

Usually, an AGM battery requires a little more voltage to properly charge between 13.8 to 14 volt which your truck already puts out. What I do like about flooded batteries is that you can remove the caps and check the specific gravity of every cell with a hydrometer, and you can monitor the health of your battery. AGM batteries are a better lasting battery, but you cannot know when a cell starts getting weak because they are a sealed. unit

This is great info. I really like being able to check a battery but the average person won't go to that extent. I also feel that given our extreme temps in Arizona the AGM will last marginally longer as well. Thanks for watching and the comment!

​@@DrivingForwardBuildsyou could get gel cell batteries we use them for car audio for lots of power draws and abuse while we were able to mount them anywhere and any position.. they are cheaper than AGM and they are going to last long time no issues where I have to suggest you search for AGM batteries and their flaws also there is a video with a f350 our generation and his headache after swapping to AGM batteries like you about to and if I remember correctly they didn't work with the bms charging system and fried them or something else but he had to go to other battery type again and had 2 very expensive paperweight

@@MrEuroWolfie The later Superduty's were upgraded to AGM from the factory. I believe in 21' or 22' they made the change. The F150 came with AGM around 2018 as well. This truck uses the same BMW system. You are correct the BMS won't properly charge them unless coded to do so. You do that either with the factory software or in my case using FORSCAN. I changed the charging parameters to meet the needs of these batteries. Hopefully, I'm correct in doing so and don't run into any issues.

Thanks very nice video, I stayed with the stock flooded on my 19 6.7 never had a problem in 4 years towing in heat under loads. Maybe because its on a tender when it sits in the garage. I seriously though AGM but no ForScan play time for me under extended warranty, . The dealer will NOT ! re-flash to AGM and last there is a national back order in Ford AGM batteries for factory build only. Have you for grins verified your belt tension-er the belt itself and performed a Vat 40 full load output test on the stock Alternator. Is is struggling capable of charging those batteries ? I have a 320 Mechman sitting on my bench waiting to go into service- Also at 58 K replaced the Belt and Tensioner when the new batteries went in. Not messing around waiting for a break down.

I haven’t load tested my system. I think the extreme heat of Arizona played a part in the batteries failing though. I have had a lot of load on my alts though. I added a 30amp 6 gauge line to my 5th wheel to run a dc-dc charger for my 4 lithium batteries when running down the road. I hear not wanting to mess with warranty.

It’s nice you have dual batteries but trying to add them into an F150 with the BMS is a royal PIA. I wonder what’s different about the setups between the higher tier trucks and the F150s. What did Ford do to allow the BMS to take care of both of them?

I believe the dual batteries is standard on the diesel for the cranking amps. They are wired in parallel and only one battery has a probe on it for the BMS. So they can't really monitor both batteries individually but the system sees it as one battery. So if you have one failing battery it will draw the other down with it. That's what was happening in my system. One battery had a failed cell and it was drawing the entire system down.

Thank you for the video. Good info here but I do not have a Forscan. My question is by reseting the BSM does it also change the battery type from flooded to AGM? This is important as you know because the charging requirements are different for an AGM.

I don’t believe it changes it. For that you’d have to find someone local with Forscan or the dealer. Not that I recommend it but I’ve seen lots of people say they switched to agm with no adverse effects without doing anything. Most people don’t know the battery monitor system is even on their trucks.

When it sits for a certain amount of time between cranks the BSM will adjust to the change in the batteries.

​@@stevejernigan4371BMS will not reset or adjust on it's own this I have personal experience of even when my batteries were dead to a point that the door locks wouldnt even unlock, and BMS still never reset until the reset procedure flashing high beam tap brake few times etc.. (didn't have for scan with me to reset) so after my issues and later on research about BMS and changing system in the 6.7 Diesel trucks everywhere was said to do the BMS reset yourself otherwise it will not automatically reset .. it killed my new batteries in a year to a point that they don't hold charges now..

That's odd for the keyfobs to go dead. These trucks are sensitive to voltage much like most cars these days. Are you sure both batteries are good? One of my was dying and causing weird issues.
