A wonderful old ute Ford built them from 1979 to 1999! I've found that hunting down factory Ford manuals on eBay or somewhere is the best.

Absolutely - they charge an arm and a leg now for a Haynes manual at any retailer. If you can stand pdf versions that tends to be a bargain as well!

She does indeed! Running very strongly in fact!

This triggers some PTSD a bit… Used to drive a manual one when they were new for a weekend job when I was at uni. Involved driving all over Melbourne and my left knee was always stuffed at the end. Made worse when the chocolate factory clutch was fried by one of the other blokes who was too rough with it, and they put a “heavy duty” one in! Had a window fall into the door on the feeeway with a Bang! once. And a dealer service left a locknut loose on a tie rod and alignment went out so bad I almost span it in the rain on the Westgate Bridge - a proper brown pants moment.

They certainly experience a fair few problems that’s for sure. Electronics have left me stranded in falcons several times over the years - I mean it’s my fault for buying crap cars I guess! Damn how heavy must that clutch have been? I used to drive with a heavy duty brass button clutch and that was a chore but to mess your knee up, that’s hardcore!

@@clayepigeon Just RSI - life in Melbourne traffic means a full day driving around you're pushing that sucker in hundreds of times! It was a horrible heavy clutch they put in it, but it towed a lot so they didnt want it to burn out again. They should have bought an automatic... And stopped the other bloke driving it who was shit at driving manuals.

I found that the injectors also get shitty in the 4L SOHC which caused me grief on cold start so I replaced them with AU ones. The AU intech injectors also have a better spray pattern for supposed gains and added reliability

I’ve considered a full AU transplant if anything goes particularly wrong with the old girl - still a very affordable l rice for good running gear. I would even consider doing a barra swap but barra prices have jumped through the roof of late…

Oh wowee, I seen that EF Falcon sedan for sale an wasnt tempted to buy it and fix it.
@clayepigeon Жыл бұрын
The EF is pretty good for parts but needs a tonne of work to be back on the road. I might do something with it eventually though!

being a guy into Ford falcons for over 15 years in South Africa only EF,EL and XH though😁, how about sending me and XH with Parts to refurbish😂😂

got a 98 XH myself, theyre surprisingly fun utes to drive, Mine only needed tie rod ends and lower ball joints. Something you may wanna do is replace the same as i've done, you'll get some very nasty bump steer otherwise. How does your transmission shift in economy mode? i suspect my auto box is slipping and would like to see some comparisons Cheers for a vid like this, shows me a lot to maintain mine 🤙 also, i also hate doing the door latches, was an absolute cunt to do it, however was nice to find my EL fairmont latches worked jsut fine while not knowing anything about falcons. also the tow ball sits high enough to dent the tailgate, so keep that in mind.

I own a 98 XH2 panel van, with........lock issues....among other things. So, do EF or EL sedan locks interchange with the XH? Any other parts you are aware of? Thanks in advance.
