My repair. Car intermittently had traction control, abs and with a delay power steering light (with engine management).the Speedo seemed to work while it was intermittent. Eventually it was in permanently. My symptoms. No power steering Car fan on all the time Eventually Speedo dropped out completely. Engine power down, quite smokey in the morning. I believe without an abs peed sensor two things happen. The car defaults to a limp setting. It disables traction control, abs and power steering. There is little reason the power steering IMO should go off. I think this, the fan on continually and the limp mode are designed so you cant drive around with no SPEEDO. Because when I did the mileage didn't go up and potentially all of this is designed to discourage people to disconnect them. At the end of the day it's only a two wire sensor. I'm lucky enough to have access to an OBS tool to read the codes. Firstly I reset all the codes. I was left with U0415 (can be ignored) and in ABS C0031. Front left speed sensor. I purchase a new ABS traction control sensor for 28 GBP. Removed wheel. Remove trim (back end of engine side). Unclipped cable like shown and fitted. Turned car on and faults were gone. BUT engine light remained. It took a further 2-3 engine on/off cycles before it disappeared completely.

If you’re asking does the speed stop working, I think so. It happened to my focus yesterday! I was driving and then a tyre pressure system malfunction message came up on the dash. I then lost my speedo, car started to limp, tyre pressure, abs, traction control light came on and I lost my power steering, hill start assist, and traction control. I found the problem today. I’m guessing that when I got my suspensions changed, the wire wasn’t secured properly, because I found the wire was touching the inside of my wheel. As I drove, the friction from the contact must have worn down my wire, exposed the copper middle, and has either broken the copper wire or the contact to the wheel is short circuiting my abs system. Either way my ABS system is BUGGING OUT! Going back to the mechanic tomorrow to have them sort it out!

@@tristanromanonaidoo7258 definitely not. Both the focus and fiesta have a redundancy feature for the speedometer. If one side goes out, it still returns a value from the other but only traction control and abs will turn off. He probably had a PCM or an ABS issue elsewhere in the car.
