Ford Fiesta gets a £13 WISH Air Intake

I don't know a whole lot about cars but I'm documenting my process as I learn more by experimenting with my own car, I try to do all the work by myself where I can. Why not follow along with the journey and subscribe I would love to hear people's opinions as I embark on this adventure into the automotive world.

I ordered and installed a £13 cold air intake kit from WISH. Honestly, I was surprised how good it was for £13, I wasn't able to install it with the Metal pipe it came with however I may go back and change it in the future, The car feels a slight bit more responsive however that is likely a placebo effect but I'm happy with how it looks and how it sounds. Overall it was worth it to get more experience working on my Sh*t box.

I've tried doing one of these on my brothers car, realised I ordered the complete wrong set (ordered it for a 207gti not a 1.6hdi), ended up just putting a k&n panel filter in which was a bit expensive but did add a little bit more of an intake noise. Also has lifetime warranty.

Yeh I feel a K&N filter is a good move for the future but it was good fun fitting this one

While far from an expert, I think it will perform worse than the stock one (other than looks) as it is open to more heat soak from the engine compartment. But hey it was £13 and hopefully the video pulls in that and a bit more 👍

I think you're right tbh I believe you can get performance panel filters that are better but I just saw it on WISH and couldn't resist 😂

Why dont just remove the whole airbox? Like also the underside. You can probably fit the red inlet pipe.

Great video mate, can I ask at 7:18 you can hear a slight whistle, my fiesta doesn’t have a cold air intake, but it pretty much makes the same sound as that when accelerating. Did you find out what was causing yours?

I think its a very common issue, there can be a load of different reasons a car whistles when you accelerate, I've just not had the time or patience to find out what's causing mine yet 😅, the car should ultimately still run fine it may just mean you're not getting the full efficiency out of the engine due to a leak somewhere in the system. I have a 1999 ford festiva wf 1.3l (43kw) I seen one guy put a weapon r dragon on his festiva but they can be very expensive and he said it needed some custom work. I don't have alot of experience and wanted to know if it would be worth getting one of these as it says it can fit my car. I got new platinum core spark plugs which im gonna install soon. I'm mainly just trying to do anything that'll help the engine and add a tiny bit more hp. I know that engines love to breath so yea I guess I just wanted to know if it would he worth it

In all honesty I think a performance panel filter will give you more HP than this unless you fit a cold air duct in to take cold air from the front of the car and have a heat shield around the cone

@@NAUTOG ahhhh i didn't even think of that. i saw a few of those and they aren't too expensive. I'll get that and maybe in the future I'll get the intake. thanks for the advice. it was nearly impossible to find anything on this car haha

@@NAUTOG thanks. it's my first car and I recently got a brand new cv shaft as it was barely holding together and the guy said that the car was in pretty good condition so I thought why not just spend a bit more so I got some new spark plugs a Bluetooth radio and re gassed the aircon. I found out that I can do a few things that aren't too expensive but easy to do so I thought I'd start there and learn more about how cars work and hopefully in the future I can really do some neat things to it as I genuinely love the look of it

Where abouts is your MAF air sensor and did you have to remove it

yeah it's an odd one I had to research it at the time, this model of fiesta doesn't have a MAF it has a TMAP instead which is located in the intake manifold so it's still on the car as I didn't touch it when putting this air intake on

@@NAUTOG what is a TMAP over a MAF? What engine is this looks like the 1.6 Zetec S unit (which I have same airbox set up but MAF in part of airbox.

@@markturner-smith5309 A TMAP just measures temperature as well as pressure but they're basically the same. and mine is the 1.4 basic Zetec engine which has the TMAP and is located further along the system rather than in the airbox

Did you connect that cable that was going into the engine to the air filter? Cause I can't find and holes to connect it into

Do you still have it installed and do u know anything about the ram air filters and if I should install one, I have the same spec mk7 as you with no MaF and does it run fine

Yeah I still have it installed and the car runs fine, I've heard about ram air filters they're more expensive and will more or less do the same job as this just a bit better Hope that helps 😁

What’s the diameter of the tubing of the fiesta air line itself? I’m assuming my fiesta is the same as yours. Yours is the 1.6L too right?

Not sure on the diameter sorry and nah mine is the 1.4, just looks like a 1.6 cause I've added the side skirts and rear bumper from a 1.6 😅

Yeah 1.6 is the smallest zetec S they do. Mine is a 1.4 zetec that I've made look like a zetec S, check out the transformation video I've done on the channel 😄

I kept the original one, cause I assumed that if oil came out of the original one then I wouldn't want oil coming out the blue tube as it has no sponge on the end of it

Yeah you're 100% right that's why I've just upgraded the whole system keep an eye out for my next video :)
