Turn the key few times before start the engine is totally useless because there isn't any power electric pump inside the tank. The only thing necessary to do after replace the fuel filter is to bleed out the air in the fuel lines

Great... I changed my fuel filter on my 1.6 zetec s tdci now it won't start.... I filled the filter with fuel and just need to prime the return line and it should start.

Hi Angello Befor You suck the fuel through into the fuel filter with the hand vacuum pump` do you have to turn the key to possition 1 or 2 on the ignition to allow the car own fuel pump to stay open while you use your hand vacuum pump. Or do you leave the ignition completely off while you use the hand vacuum pump then when finish filling the filter and return pipe` Then you turn the ignition on to to possition 1 or 2 a couple of times befor starting the engine.

I leave ignition completely off, only turn ON at the end of everything.

Im not 100% sure, but i think they are 8mm, i measure the connectors from pump and they are 7,70mm and the rubber tubes are about 6mm from inside, so the rubber tubes fits nice on connectors.

You no the pipe you said connect at the top of the filter should I be able to pull desal out of that I am using syringe

Oi Daniel, peço desculpa por só responder agora, mas fiz isto em cima do joelho, nem liguei mais ao vídeo, nos modelos diesel a partir de 2009 eles removeram a bomba manual do circuito. Ou seja ao mudar o filtro de gasóleo ficamos sem maneira de purgar o ar do sistema. Com esta bomba de vácuo resolvemos a situação. Trocamos o filtro, ligamos a bomba na saída do filtro que fica para a frente do carro, e carregamos até vir sem bolhas para encher o filtro. Depois tiramos a bomba e ligamos o tubo. De seguida ligamos a bomba ao tubo de vácuo, aquele que manda o gasóleo de volta para o deposito e que fica por detrás do filtro de ar. Pressionamos até vir sem bolhas de ar, tiramos a bomba e conectamos o tubo e está feito. Tentei uma vez sem bomba e fiquei sem bateria no carro a tentar que ele pegasse.

The system works with high pressure pump, dont disconect anything with engine running, you may damage the pump.

Unfortuly haynes manual dont have any info about the size, you can try on Ford dealership i bet they are not expensive.

É de que ano o carro? Tenho um de 2008 e vou mudar também o filtro, mas não tenho esse kit para tirar o ar do circuito... o próprio carro não deveria ter uma espécie de "bomba" em que apertamos para encher o filtro?

Se o teu é de 2008 ainda deve ter a "pêra" de enchimento, eles tiraram a partir de 2009. Por isso no teu caso só tens que montar tudo e ir apertando a "pêra" até ficar rija.

Pois, agora só domingo em principio é que vou mudar e ver isso, mas sem desmontar nada não vejo essa "pêra" em lado nenhum... é de 2008 mas já é o modelo mk7 na mesma. Já agora se me conseguires tirar outra dúvida... Do lado direito junto ao filtro de combustível, a tampa do filtro de ar parece que não fecha completamente, e vê-se parte do filtro, é normal?

@@Cosme3389 Esse parte de se ver o filtro é normal. No meu via-se também. Pois a pêra devia estar á tua esquerda de quando se abre o capô, possivelmente o teu já é a versão mais recente em que a tiraram.

dmate never heard so much krap. the fuel does not return back to the tank. you are thinking off 70 .80 models you are out of date mate use a proper primer pump
