At $36,500 drive away (as per Fords Website to build your vehicle) I won't be "upgrading" from my sub $30K ($27.5K drive away paid in Nov 2016) Mk7 Fiesta ST. It is not worth a $9K jump.

I also had a mk7 fiesta st and I took one of these for a test drive. Was definitely a great improvement from the last one. The LSD was definitely great to have and it certainly more powerful and composed than the last one. Plus more comfortable too! Ultimately I didn’t end up buying the new one as I traded my mk7 for an ND Mazda mx5 and it’s just more preferable dynamics for me. But if I ever need a 4 door again. This is first on the list
@mills33754 жыл бұрын
Justin Rosaria Should definitely consider one. My Xr4 is a blast to drive and it’s 13 years old and while I haven’t driven a mk8 yet they seem pretty fun to drive. How was your Mk7 like to drive and live with? I’m really considering but want to know if I should save some cash and get a mk7
@jjrosaria4 жыл бұрын
Millen Rogers My mk7 was definitely a fun car to drive! Definitely still worth a consideration even now if you can find it for a good price. You can always mountune it if you want a little more poke from it to get in level with the mk8’s power. In some ways I preferred the mk7s response - it seemed to have less turbo lag and a touch more linear than the mk8 which felt a little more boosty. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I did think that the 3 pot suits the character of the new car better. I also felt the mk7s gear shift is better. Mk8 was a little plastic feeling for me if that makes sense. Smoother. But more plastic. The only real things that annoyed me with the mk7 is the seating position. The recaros can’t be adjusted for angle and they point too high up. I’m 5’6 and was never able to get comfortable with the seat. But maybe less of a problem for you. The mk8s ergonomics is better. Ultimately the new car is better. But you just have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. It’s more polished, rides and handles better, it’s faster and ultimately more fun. The LSD makes the biggest difference for me as although I never really feel inside wheel spinning up in the dry on the mk7. It’s in the wet where it matters. But even then, you can definitely feel the LSD on the mk8 pulls you out better of corners (plus the amazing torque it’s got) So my response is. If you want to keep it for a while. I’d say get a mk8. If you just want a fun, cheap pocket rocket of a thing. Just get a mk7. It still won’t disappoint you.

Love the thrum of a 3 cylinder. Pity they only do a fully loaded version forcing the price up. The mechanical LSD though is appealing.
@dragbag16164 жыл бұрын
Aye, they pumped the price up here defaulting a lot of options in Europe too, bought mine as cheap as possible with just the mechnical LSD (cloth seats, 17" wheels, etc.), and I love it, really didnt need anything more comfort wise (heated steering wheel? lolno), for still at a reasonable price.

Why did Australia have to wait so long for this car? The back looks very much like an old Pulsar. Getting a bit expensive for it's target audience (i.e young men). But then again, cars a far cheaper than they were 30 years ago. Great to see a manual which is one reason that I never would have bought a Clio; unless I wanted a 900cc...

Really love this car! It’s a huge seller in Germany. The fiesta is a great package for a very good price. Shame Australia had to wait so long for it. And funnily enough, it’s build in Germany but cheaper in Australia than it it’s „home country“... why :D And the Australian version doesn’t have the upgraded LED lights..., very weird since it’s fully loaded anyways
