160* thermostats...Didn't realize the old Ford flatheads ran that cool. the build is looking good!
@QuickSpeedShop2 жыл бұрын
Since some flatheads could run hot I wanted to get the cooler T stats to get the coolant flowing faster.

Thanks for sharing this conversion! 'Interesting about that mount for the right-side motor mount being removable. Smart thinking using the longer bolts to start the clutch, too! The whole clutch thing had me cracking up...is the bottom half of the bellhousing part of the oil pan on that flathead? Enjoy! Be safe!
@QuickSpeedShop2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the oil pan has the lower half of the bellhousing. It's a hold over design from the T and A engines. When the Y block came out in '54 that disappeared.

This makes me glad the 8ba I have has a removable bellhousing. Did you make that engine hoist plate and cart?
@QuickSpeedShop2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Made the plate. Cart is a shopping cart minus the basket.

I have a '37 slantback 2 door sedan. I was going to hire out the clutch job but couldn't find anyone who wanted to do it, will do it myself now that I have room in my garage. How did you know you needed a 10" instead of 9" clutch?
@QuickSpeedShop Жыл бұрын
The clutch size is determined by engine year. I'm running a 1946-48 59AB and that takes a 10" clutch. I believe the stock '37 85 hp 21 stud uses a 9" clutch.

@@QuickSpeedShop I look forward to more of your '37 Ford vids. Last year when I needed clutch help, Zero 1937 Ford Clutch specific vids on KZbin.

I don't know the part numbers. You can look it up at Speedway Motors I would think.

Question I have a Ford Flathead Engine 255CI what Ford transmission can I use, prefer manual transmission thx
@QuickSpeedShop10 ай бұрын
Do you want to use a torque tube transmission or open? If torque tube and you want the shifter on the case, you want the '39 transmission. If you want a side shift transmission, torque tube, use a '40-'48 transmission. If it's open you can use any Ford 3 or 4 speed with a flathead adapter. You can also run late model Ford T5 5 speed with an adapter. Just Google Ford flathead transmission adapter.
