Also, the steeply angled rear screen and large rear quarters are on the mk2, mk2.5, mk3 and now the mk3.5... I don't remember that being a complaint before.

The manual biting point is actually really easy, if you know how to drive manual you won't have any troubles with that.

I know the Octavia is in the same class as the Focus, A3, 1 series, Golf, Mazda 3, Leon, A class, 308, C4, Megane etc etc but I don't understand why reviewers compare these cars to it when it comes to space. Everyone who knows what the octavia is knows it is a bigger car than any of these cars, so of course it is going to have more legroom and way more boot space. I was surprised the Octavia is even a C segment car. Before I knew that I always thought it was a rival to the mondeo, insignia etc due to the size and space. Its like saying the Golf has more legroom and boot space than a fiesta

The MK1 really was and still is an excellent car, I'd happily have one now, but the MK3 is a clear improvement with better engines and technology.

This is such an interesting car to have. The MK1 was radical after looking at one. Ford cars are sharp and sexy nowadays. It's a massive improvement whilst others like Renault and Vauxhall are turning ugly.

Sloped rear window and thick C pillars makes reversed difficult .... although the huge reversing camera on the screen infront of you makes it a damn sight easier if you bother looking forward

I understand where she's coming from saying the screen is slow to respond but why doesn't she say that unlike the Peugeot 308, you don't have to use the screen to alter the climate control. She makes it look like you need to use the screen for that in this video.

Hi Rebecca , the focus is revamped from the Portuguese plant and the 2015 from Germany, with improvement over suites filed by consumers in the us for the power shift transmission " manual transmission " electronically shifting with dual clutch cause various problem making the car unsafe on freeways.

The best thing about the older Focus' was that they had a brilliant compromise between comfort and road handling, the MK1 was really good to drive, this is too soft...

You can't park a car produced in 2015 ok :) you have parking sensors, rear view camera and mirror's -_- and for the gearbox it's one of the best gearbox i've ever experienced. The focus is the best Handling/fun car to drive in class, you won't waste your money only for style or confort but the money you spent on it will give you a big smile while driving it !

While I am a fan of Rebecca and not a fan of any particular brand as I like alot of cars from various brands and have driven alot of cars from various brands. the focus isn't great its alright but springy clutch?? I don't agree with that. I learned to drive in the mk3 focus and the biting point was easy as to find and infact on all manual ford cars I have driven (including the new focus 1.5 diesel zetec) have excellent clutches and gearboxes. I do agree though the touch screen is a bit slow and the boot space is crap for a car in this segment. Also reversing should be easier considering there is a 8inch screen infront of you with a reversing camera plus rear parking sensors?? I had a 61reg ford focus titanium 1.6 ecoboost and it had rear parking sensors and a parking display (no camera) and it was a peice of piss to park anywhere and I never stalled it once!. The facelift zetec I drove the other day had just parking sensors and was easy to park in the ford carpark. Use of wing mirrors and rear view mirrors and the sound of beeping that was all that was required, not hard at all, oh and I never stalled that once either on the 20 minute test drive, where I stopped quite a few times at lights and letting people cross the road etc. P.S please go back to car buyer and replace that boring woman.

WOW, look at that interior compared to the new 2024 focus with big screen ! this looks so much better ! If I could buy a new focus diesel with this interior I would buy it tomorrow ! I drive an EV with crap infotainment where the screen means lots of menus to do basic tasks like climate control and radio. Just look at the speedo and rev counter, the fuel gauge, wow, so much nicer than many cars today which replace all this with TFT screens !

What gets me about these Ford reviews is that most reviewers never quickly say "its all accessible by voice command", when your needing to use the screen. I'm not going to knock the VW Golf much but, The design of the care to the interior has not changed much & to be truthful, I would have still bout my '13 Focus SE. I did take consideration at looking at other competitors like the VW Golf, Mazda 6, Kia Rio (Ceed), Chevy Cruz, No Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic for me.

Rebecca sure appears to have a predisposed bias for VW which makes her review lack objectivity. The VW is "classier" is purely subjective. It "sets the standards" for drivability yet scores 7/10. Review score, 4/10.

This review had dumb nitpicks. Who really cares if you have to lift an extra part of the seat to make more room for the trunk? This car is great for buying a teenager for their first car. I never saw this as a family sorta car, its more of a single or two people type. This is my favorite Ford Focus hatchback style. It's the very first car in a hatchback that I've loved! It's perfect in my eyes.

I still feel that the mk2 Focus was a better car. It had a bigger boot, better rear visibility, a simpler dash design and better styling, i.e. none of this car's drawbacks. Find a good facelift example from around 2009/10 and many of them also have Bluetooth, DAB radio etc. and you will also save a ton of money. I had a mk2 and I loved it. The mk3 and its facelift shown here are a step backwards IMO.

Edward, you are spot on. 2019 and I still like my mk2, even though the mk4 is out. Wished Ford would reissue a small number of mk2s to keep fans happy just like Apple did with the iphone 5s.

When you take the lower rate finance & discounts into account, the gap between the Focus & its rivals deepens. I loved the looks & engine of the Leon 1.4 ACT FR but with a £4.6k discount off a '15 plate Focus Zetec S, Ford got my order. Hopefully they review one of them soon as they look a lot better without the shiny Titanium grille

Is this a nice car to learn to drive in or would it be? The AA driving school uses these cars, and I want to know. I have never really driven a car before, and the brief times I have, I cant get past clutch control. I fear that she has said in this review that the clutch is very stiff, as this is the same problem on our old family saloon, that I have practiced in a few times.

Firstly, Great car and looking forward to a review of the estate version. Rebecca is a great reviewer. But...was this review filmed on a mobile phone's camera? The image and sound quality is shocking. Also the composition is very poor and unprofessional. Not to mention the silly point scoring system and big blue text boxes. Rebecca on CarBuyer reviews was much better! With all respect to the photographer / filmer / mobile phone holder for trying, but constructive criticism helps.

I have one of these 18" alloys sports pack great car even reversing camera is a cool feature 6 speed manual gearbox sat navigation etc I have had golf's and thay are nothing special when it broke down pretty expensive to repair give Ford anyday

I use this focus to teach people to drive, and nobody complains about the clutch. I find it very light and easy to find the biting point and very few people stall the car due to the biting point being hard to find. I think visibility is good compared to other similar sized vehicles. All cars have blind spots. You must always reverse with care. What a biased review this is. Was she being paid by vw?

Sat navy has a few rough edges ? Shall I get the sand paper out then and smooth then off a bit ? Why do car journalists talk so much rubbish Why not just say the touch screen is crap and the sat nav is pure and utter shit ., and don't waste your money on a ford shitty Eco boost because there not as economical as proclaimed by far. And the throttle inputs are extrmley sensitive so much so that at times you wonder if your in a Nody car. There Done simple honest review .

In a swedish winter test recently against Volvo, VW, Audi, BMW and Mercedes this model was a total failure. It was a test for 2-3 days far up north with temperatures between -20 & -30 and the car didn't take it well. The temperature inside were -5 at worst and +10 at best with an average of 0 degrees, the climate system just couldn't handle the extreme cold and besides that it only did ok in other areas. Unlike in winter it will be a diffrent story but for the winter there are a long list of better choices. Not the return it was hoped it would get after the long wait. Since the previous model was so appreciated expectations were pretty high on the new model.

She looks like a cute penguin from Ducktales. Focus is a great cheap car, former makes had a touch of Mazda (which instantly affects reliability). Ford though, shockingly, has a touch of ... Tesla ...! in the form of the C Max, which beat the BMW I3 Giga in Consumer Reports on the Electric Car Ranking.
